[DRAGON] - now vomiting more lead than ever

So I ended up with the 1C on Elites, all's well and I have a build I like, but there's always improvements to be made... maybe. Just wondering what kind of ideas people can come up with.

First of all, the two builds I am often running, as I can't quite decide which one I like better.

All fits here have 0 crit slots left afaik.

3 Large Laser, SRM6, AMS - Just doesn't overheat, Works at all ranges
      Spoiler:

2 Large Pulse Laser, Small Pulse Laser, SRM 6 - Still heat stable but have to be a bit careful sometimes, huge bonus: damage tends to be applied very precisely - low impulse time, a bit shorter range, fits the theme of SRM better

They both work well, first one can also fit more ammo instead of AMS if wanted, and they are all well off on heat dissipation, except for caustic where I often have to forget about the MPL on the second one.

Here is my current experiment, but server just went down so I can't properly test it yet.

Oh, this used to be the build I ran for a long time, with ballistics. I somehow prefer the laser ones though.

LB-10x, Large Laser, 2 Medium Laser, SRM 6 - got speed, might as well use it. Often switched out for normal AC10, or small lasers and more ammo, etc. This one has some free crit slots.

Confirming Hels is right, the dragon thread isn't dead and is teaming with info about the 2 new hero mechs.

    Idiot.

Because making posts about on topic things in a subform dedicated to 1 game is against the rules now? These mechs are significantly different from the stock mechs and also have to be bought with money. As not many people will do this, putting all the info in 1 thread rather than littering them through the whole subforum where no one is likely to find it seemed like a much better idea for people interested in these things.

Lana, just because you're too dumb to realize that a Yen Lo Wang is a Centurion, doesn't mean everyone else is.

Furthermore all variants are different by a fair margin for most models. By that logic we should have a topic for every model.

So in short, no. Deal with it nerd.

I was referring to Flame and Fang with bumping this thread. But while we are on the subject of the wang, that has a single post in the centurion thread that has a single fitting in it. No info about slot layout, no info about the quirks (arms don't move independently of the center hull if you are wondering) and no useful piloting tips.

You can either leave these posts here as a testament to both our stupidity or remove them and not pollute the dragon thread.

Mate, deal with it. If you want Yen Lo posts get a fucking Yen Lo and post. Big surprise the free mechs are used more.

If you're going to argue about posting rules and what goes where, why are you doing it in an unrelated thread?

And no, the new dragons are not particularly different from the rest sadly. The Fang is exactly the same as the old ones, while the Flame is kinda awesome, but the same fits apply.

    LB10X, 4ML, SRM6 with XL300 is best imo.

One of the new dragons, not sure which one though, can fit an AC/20 in the arm. Would like to know which if anyone knows.

    It can't.

Only the Flame can fit an AC20, and that's only if you use a standard engine as it's in the torso.

Just tried and you can do an AC20 + 2ML (or 4SL) with a 300 standard, going almost 90 with speedtweak. Armor max except legs at 46. Tempted to try it.

[DRAGON] - Featuring 1C: The one non-terrible dragon

A faster hunchback without the obvious hunch (and standard engine to boot) sounds good.
    Actually an '06.

AC/20 requires a standard engine. The best thing about the DGN is the 350XL. 100KPH+ in a 60t mech.

Way I've been playing my regular DGN's is all the same.

    UAC5 w/ 3t of ammo
    SRM (either a 6 or 2x4s for the 1N) w/ 2t of ammo
Medium Lasers (2 for for the 1N and 1C or 2 Pulses for the 5N)
1C gets 2 Sml Lasers in it's left arm as well.

Edit: So Isyel convinced me to buy a Flame. I'm running my -1C build on it, slightly modified.
    350XL
    UAC5 w/3t of ammo
    SRM4 w/1t of ammo
    4 x Med Lasers.
Endo, 14 x DHS and max-armour on everything but the legs.

It's a little hot, but the 4 arm Med lasers own. Also, you can fit FF on that build. Allows 1 more tonne of ammo, and ridiculous amounts of armour on the legs.

Currently saving for a XL350 engine to use with my Dragon's, as though the XL300 has been good now on my Elite skill's and want to give 100km Dragon a go.

Been Incorporating LB10-X's in most of my builds along with AMS. The 1C has been boss alongside the Flame, though also have had a soft spot for the Fang as a slightly better 1N.

Seeing as the 1N and 5N are shit, that's not much.

Why the hell would you ever buy a Fang when there's the Flame.

As per DGN-1N, minus -1 missile hardpoint in CT, +1 energy hardpoint in LA. IE shit. The best thing about the -1N is the two missile hardpoints.

I mean you can run a dual AC2 build on it; but you'll have heat issues. And if you're only running 1 AC then a Flame is straight up better.

And good luck running a dual AC5 build on it with a decent engine (at that point a 340XL CTF is faster - read 'better').

Tip for young players: if you are only running 1 AC on your DGN and you aren't in a -1C or a Flame then you are doing it wrong (or grinding the basics).

Addendum: trying to fit 2 ACs on a DGN is terribad. Don't do it.

1C looks fine. Perhaps a little hot.

AC2's I find run very hot, and you need prolonged exposure to get the most out of their DPS. Therefore, I much prefer UAC5s or the LL builds (which function better as short exposure weapons in comparison with the AC2).

Also, AMS isn't that necessary for a DGN. You go 105ish, so avoiding missiles is actually fairly easy.

Edited: finally got around to building some Flames in smurfy.
Flame - for people who do not like UACs
Flame - for people who do like UACs.

INB4 - 'Flame - for coolfags'; 'Flame - for retards' or some variation.
