And also, cool planes? Hustler is the name you want. Its looks killed, didn't need bombs.

I was somewhere around Old Man Star, on the edge of Essence, when drugs began to take hold.

I grew up in Newburgh, NY right by the airport, where the ANG housed some cool shit. Saw A-10s, F15s etc. They always have at least 3-4 C5s there. They Don't fit in the hangars, the doors close around them, and the tail sticks outside.

    *edit* found a pic

Imo the best of the worst of the cold war:

    http://www.merkle.com/pluto/pluto.html

pretty much a missile loaded with a dozen hydrogen bombs, and powered by an unshielded nuclear reactor-ramjet; If the nukes didn't kill you, the cloud of radioactive fallout trailing the missile would.

What happens when you shoot it down? Radiation everywhere!

I guess that's what satellite countries are for. Shoot it down before it hits your turf. Fuck the rest.

TBH I was talking more about the technical and engineering aspect. Absolutely amazed that they managed to achieve so much (and could have possibly done more) fifty years ago.

Obviously it's a fucking horrible weapon whichever way you look at it. But damn, from a 'professional' stand point I'd give my left nut to be able to work on something like that...

What I want to know is how it drops it's bombs. If the one closest to the front drops it'd be sucked into the air intake (well not sucked, but the speed it'd be moving at would make the intake catch the bomb) and the ones further back can't be dropped since the intake is in the way.

I had no idea the C-5 was that much bigger than the C-130.

Consideringthe slam was designed to fly at treetop level, dropping the nukes would be a very bad idea. The nukes would shoot out the top like a submarine to give it some time to clear the area.

I wouldn't be suprised if a few people lost their left nut working on that thing

The C-5 is so huge, they considered shoving mostly unmodified intercontinental ballistic missiles into them, then dropping them out the back in mid air so they could have mobile launch sites before the Polaris program made sub-based missiles feasible.

One of these to be precise:

The idea of a radiation spewing flying tank the size of a railway car popping nukes out the top while flying really fast at a low altitude and with a huge fuel supply is... incredible. That thing literally looks like the doomsday weapon.

A huge supersonic bomber firing nuclear missiles is still the best, sorry.

Sorry but B1 has lower speed, shorter range and less payload so it's not superior in any way apart from number produced.
