    Stay classy.
She and her Husband turned their back on the aids crisis for 7 years in a particularly cunty move when Rock Hudson (a movie star, family friend, and closeted gay man dying of AIDs) reached out to her in hopes of getting her support to get something done about epidemic she turned her back on him.

Instead she chose to focus her attention on a predictably ineffective anti drug campaign that mixed scare tactics and stigmatization with prohibition and ignorance. Which position has influenced conservative thought for decades indirectly contributing to the astronomical bloodshed now endemic to everywhere south of the united states.

Nancy Reagan's legacy of blood and suffering is made only more spectacular by the fact that she did it all without ever actually holding any official jobs in government.
Sure. But had they opted to declare war on HIV/AIDS instead, they would have teached abstinence only or some other retarded idea.
nah way worse than that, they didn't even know what AIDS was, like they didn't even put any government funding into figuring out how it was transmitted or how it could be treated. Because it was for a while at least, mostly contained to minority communities they literally ignored it as a public health concern, the distinctions we have now between HIV and AIDS as stages, the precise nature of communication, the transmission rates and risk factors, literally no funding was diverted to even study the problem. By the time they actually decided to do something about it (coincidently when it started to finally leak into white middle class populations) 650 thousand people had already died.
IMHO that reluctance to research its source lead to the sort of widespread belief that it's something engineered, whereas in reality it is a virus naturally occurring in apes in West Africa.

Well the SIV is actually easily suppressed by the human immune system. Only quick transmission between humans increases the chance for mutation into HIV. Colonialism and with it the big cities on the West Central African coast allowed enough mutations to occur. Especially the prevalence of prostitution in those cities is seen as the major factor.

In 2014, a study conducted by scientists from the University of Oxford and the University of Leuven, in Belgium, revealed that because approximately one million people every year would flow through the prominent city of Kinshasa,[1] which served as the origin of the first known HIV cases in the 1920s,[1] passengers riding on the region's Belgian railway trains were able to spread the virus to larger areas.[1] The study also attributed a roaring sex trade, rapid population growth and unsterilised needles used in health clinics as other factors which contributed to the emergence of the Africa HIV epidemic.[1]

I'm actually kinda fucked up by this, he tweeted only 2 days ago

    https://twitter.com/Totalbiscuit/sta...64067614609408

He'd always been one of the better PC gaming critics/reviewers, and I remember his "WTF is Magica" video making me buy the game off the bat

I can't imagine what his wife is going though, she always seemed pretty cool even back when he was "beating" his diagnosis (he lasted what, 3 years past his original death estimate)

To give you guys some perspective

Damn, truly sad news. He might've been going through the surge, you suddenly feel great and euphoric before your body just gives up; watched both my parents go through it, it's an extra cruel fuck you from cancer.

Fuck cancer, get your pooper checked.

    P. much. A lot of people who disliked his reviews were usually unable to comprehend they were coming from an opinionated source with their clearly disclosed biases though. I appreciated how he never went for pretending to be "objective" in his reviews.

I found him kind of boring but I don't really care much about video game reviews in general.

Sad for anyone to die at a young age from such an aggressive disease.
