There was a time when artists genuinely used the absurdity of their art to make a salient observation of the world around them, and to great affect. That was a long time ago. It seems to me that artists of this generation, and several past, are motivated by a competition over the novelty of their absurdity, and the obscurity of their message, having lost any focus over the reason for it. The irony being, it is now more shocking to see an artist do something traditionally.

I remember seeing Rossi racing 125's in the mid 90's and thinking to myself back then, that he was going to rule the MotoGP World. The commentators were shocked, and talking about how he would make his own racing line where there seemed to be no grip. That video, seriously gave me goosebumps. Firstly for Lorenzo's first pass attempt and Rossi reclaiming it like it ain't no thang, and then that move on the final corner... WOW!

I remember one race where Rossi just kept having worse luck after bad, he crashed twice, without somehow damaging his bike and still ended up winning after overtakin everyone twice, iirc he got up to like 5th place before he crashed the second time, dropped down to like 15th and was 1st with 2-3 laps to go. The guy is superhumanly good.
