I link that video every year or so. It's a fantastic speech, it doesn't need the music to make it resonate emotionally, although I do like it (the album leaf btw, old album that I can recommend if you like post rock).

Apart from its power of making anyone shed manly tears, it is also masterfully constructed. For a comedian, Charlie knew his shit. I once dissected it for a class at uni, and you'd be surprised at how intricate it is in terms of rhetorical tropes and the likes.

Also, I've always realized this is me being really naive: but I have immense trouble imagining anyone not being affected by its message.
