    "Wing Commander" Chris Roberts ?

nice, so space combat is making a actual comeback.
    Viking, n.:
    1. Daring Scandinavian seafarers, explorers, adventurers, entrepreneurs world-famous for their aggressive, nautical import business, highly leveraged takeovers and blue eyes.
    2. Bloodthirsty sea pirates who ravaged northern Europe beginning in the 9th century.

Hagar's note: The first definition is much preferred; the second is used only by malcontents, the envious, and disgruntled owners of waterfront property.

And better not be a fuckup like the Wing Commander movie was.

As Spoony Experiment put it: "How do you direct the movie of a franchise YOU created and fuck up that badly?!"

Hoping for an awesome new freelancer kind of game. Wondering how he is funding it and what freedom he has. As far as I know Freelancer although decent was not released the way he wanted to see it because of budget constraints and pressure from Microsoft to have the game launched before it was done.

I don't understand the love for freelancer over starlancer. Starlancer (also chris roberts) was a much better polished game with much better balance, better storytelling and in my opinion better gameplay.

...but without the open worldy bit of freelancer, which was the great attraction. Mind you, I never got into Freelancer in a big way - the original got terribly samey after a while and whatever mods could do never quite made it worth spending time over X3, which did that kind of thing better (IMO YMMV T&C's Apply etc etc). Still, will watch this with interest to see what he can make with new tech, though it does sound a little bit like he's gone Indie.

I want a proper space opera again. Wing Commander, Freespace or StarLancer. I actually thought StarLancer had amazing art direction, too bad they never expanded on it outside of FreeLancer, which I never got into.
