It's my birthday
Happy birthday. Today I am tired and a boring person.

Today I am incompetent of being lazy and taking short cuts. I successfully failed at settling for a frozen pizza dinner and am now cooking something nice.
edit: also happy birthday mr. krans.
Renewed my lease on a short-term basis until I get a reliable job around here. My regular lease expires at the end of this month. Go figure this month would be the month I had to start seeking better employment. If you're on the short-term lease plan you pay a premium. My rent on what is essentially a glorified studio apartment is now approaching $900 a month.
But, you know, Downtown Orlando. You pay for the area, not the building. In any event it's a better option than moving out to the sticks, since I'd be locked into a 7 or 12-month lease at a new building almost by default. I got the short-term option here because I've been here over a year and a half now. Come to think of it that's the longest consecutive period at the same address for me since 2005.
Had a really busy week.
Exam about visual computation (neurobiology) on Tuesday went rather well I think.
Flat mate moved out and I finished moving my furniture and stuff into my new room today. It's a bit bigger but the most important thing is that it's facing the other side of the building so now I can keep my windows open and won't hear the traffic from a 4 lane street like in my old room
We decided not to look for a new flat mate and instead use my old room as a living room. We'll have to pay more rent (now we are two people instead of three) but that's worth it... if only I'd finally find a chill part time job to get some spare pocket money :-/ Have an offer from my old boss to work at a Starbucks but *cringe* I'd rather do something in a biology related field but there's no jobs for bachelor students![]()

Hello? Oh, hello! I'm sorry it's a very bad line. No, no no... but that's not possible, she was sealed in to the Seventh Obelisk after the prayer meeting. Well, no, I get that it's important... an Egyptian Goddess loose on the Orient Express. In Space. Give us a mo....
... don't worry about a thing, your Majesty; we're on our way.
Oh hey if anyone knows anywhere in Winchester where one can find relatively cheap student housing I'd be very grateful if you could point me in the right direction.
Will pay in +reps and beer if I ever meet you.
Got my new job which is a 7k rise. Not sure about taking it as my current job is taking off but it's a hard decision. I'll get drunk all weekend and I should know by Monday.

Today is my last day of staycation. I have the weekend, then back to work. We had $500+ dollars of firewood delivered today, which isn't a lot, unless you have to stack it!
We (wife and kid) also met my mom for happy hour and some snacks where she finally came to the realization that I vote republican (I'm not looking for comments on this...). She's a retired teacher and so, obviously, a life long democrat. "When did you get all republican?" she asked. I explained how, during the last republican administration my salary had tripled and I got a raise every year. Since then, nothing. Additionally, I offered to buy her happy hour drinks and snacks after Mitt Romney gave me a tax cut
We're normal people not nut jobs, so it was a good laugh.
I read an article some years ago that sought to identify the roots of a person's political ideology. The hypothesis was that it's largely dependant on when you grewup (ie, when you transitioned from teen to adult). I grew up in the last 1/2 of Reagan's administration and George Bush Sr's. So, I saw the wall fall, a good economy, and the Gulf War I. :makesgoodsense:

Was that in link to the republican administration or just because?Originally Posted by indeterminacy

'I'm pro life. I'm a non-smoker. I'm a pro-life non-smoker. WOO, Let the party begin!'
i think, my toenail is growing into the sidewall of my toe.
Well, a large part of was due to my graduating college and getting a new job. However, I did a lot of private consulting during that time and paid far less in taxes after tax cuts, and I got a raise every year at my day job. I've not had a raise in the last 3 years...but am asked to do more and more work day by day. The administration didn't directly affect me aside from the tax cuts and generally creating an environment of prosperity which no doubt contributed to the raises at my day job.
