out and out racing on public roads is dumb, having the odd bit of fun sometimes is fine

also for the love of god don't track your own car. you're not in a race-safe car, and your insurance most likely will laugh at you if you try and claim. either buy a banger and run that, or rent a race car
Your regular coverage absolutely will not cover tracking the car. There are specialist insurance companies that offer race day insurance, but be prepared to pay an heinous price. I'd say a track day driving school is your best bet if you really want to get out on a track and push a car as hard as you can.
This. If you want to drive on a track, do that. That said, Nürburgring does open days, but I wouldn't take my Kia to it. Just not build for it at all.
Serious question; could you even get the kia on the track[the ring]? Like is there any sort of tech inspection? For instance many tracks won't let you on if your tires aren't rated H,V or better.
Nope. If your car is road legal in Germany, you can take it onto the Nordschleife on special days. German road laws still apply. Especially Section 3, subsection 1:

Any person driving a vehicle may only drive so fast that the car is under control. Speeds must be adapted to the road, traffic, visibility and weather conditions as well as the personal skills and characteristics of the vehicle and load.
The same rule applies to the Autobahn, only change are posted speed limits.

    Nürburgring Tourist ride days:

    http://www.nuerburgring.de/en/drives...dschleife.html

Check the rules in the PDFs.

Telsa gets sued for "possessed" Model X:

Lyon, who already owns a Tesla Roadster and a Model S, paid $162,000 for the vehicle. Soon after, strange things began to happen.

“The doors do some weird, wicked things,” Lyon told Courthouse News. “If you get in and slide sideways and accidentally tap the brake, the driver’s side door slams shut on your leg. That’s not a very nice thing to have happen to you.”

The automatic doors also slammed shut on his wife, Lyon claimed, and opened unexpectedly, causing damage to the doors and items inside his garage. In parking lots, the doors open into other vehicles, he claimed.

The gripes outlined in the lawsuit don’t end there. According to Lyon, the autonomous Autopilot feature swerves the vehicle into other lanes during rainstorms, the self-parking feature doesn’t work 90 percent of the time, and the touchscreen freezes for no reason.

Fixed and added some stuff again yesterday!

Reinstalled the rear wind screen - behind the "roll bar".
Credits to me dad for finding two fitting clamp pieces which are now screwed to the bottom of the roll bar. Brackets of the wind screens then bolted onto the screw in the clamps, voila!
Adjustable rear wind screen that doesn't obstruct the seat and headrest.

Also installed my Sun Visor LED Mods. Basically this Jass Performance Sun Visor Interior Light kit but built on me own for 1/10th of the price with proper 140° / 23 Lumen warm-white Leds for a total parts price of 5€.
Lol @ charging 51€ for the jass performance kit

Before / After Pics (First just the stock bulb in the middle, then all together)

(The red floor lightning through LED strips was done by the previous owner)

Also ordered new NGK ZFR6F-11 Spark Plugs and proper fucking 8.5mm Magnecor ignition wires. Car still has the black OEM Mazda cables in and they're at least 6+ years old and a known issues for MX5s due to being run straight over the engine and exposure to exessive heat.

Had the subjective feeling that especially once hot the engine is lacking some oomph. Was curious and tried to rev it out on the Autobahn yesterday....got stuck at 6000rpm in 5th year and ~175kmh according to the tachometer.
Or maybe it's just the fucking R16 Dotz Cora rims and 205/45 R16 tires changing the gear transmission ratio.

Swapped Ignition cables today, removing the old ones from the ignition coil was a major PITA. Especially the last one for Cylinder 4.
The bushing in the coil was corroded or had sediments in them or some shit....nbs
Just look at that connector on the old cable:

Absolutely disgusting! Cleaned the little fucker out with some fine sandpaper, jobsagudn.

Also wanted to install me new NGK ZFR6F-11 spark plugs but fucking DHL lost them or something. Should've been delivered today....noshow.
The current ones look fine though, I think:

Also swapped the headlight H4 bulbs for some sweet ass Osram Nightbreaker Unlimited.

Yeah those look pretty clean; so that's a pretty good sign. Hit em with a bit of emery and stash em away incase you need a sparkplug in a pinch.
Also big ups for getting proper spark plugs instead of falling into the iridium/platinum bullshit.

Went full on autist over the spark plug choice tbh...like half a day intertubes research.
Those NGK Extended Reach ones seem to be the premium plug consensus for an MX-5.

Know the feeling. I don't buy anything unless I've spent at least a day reading everything I can after cheaping out on a few things (motor mounts, knock sensor) bit me in the ass. Trying to decide between three different motor mount kits after all but one of the cheap ones has failed at least once each. Knock sensor can eat a dick, though, last one stripped the threads out of the block so just gonna bypass it.

Explains the increase of Tesla products going to my EMC lab. Seems they weren't as stringent about testing as one would hope.

Edit: well that and their issues have a fundamental difference in auto function..

    Musk on Model X debacle:

Musk acknowledged the embarrassing problems faced by Model X owners, and said that imminent software updates should stop that model’s doors from going Maximum Overdrive on its owners. Going big on technology in the first version of the vehicle was a big mistake, he said.

“We should have taken those ‘awesome’ features and tabled them for a future version,” said Musk. “It was a case of being overconfident. The door system was complex and difficult to refine. I think we’re almost there in making the doors useful.
"Software updates" to make "doors useful".

    Fuck electric cars.

    Today we are custom fit.

KBM header was tight against the radiator fan shroud so we trimmed it slightly. We are also making fly leads to move the fan loom out of the way of hot things.

Grimmspeed divorced wastgate pipe fouls on the powersteering knuckle / linkage so we'll be modding that tomorrow for clearance. I'll have to chip off
some of the ceramic coat to weld, though. Bastards.

Then tune, hopefully. Although I'm currently looking at a Turbosmart twin port actuator and a 4 port boost solenoid for that fine part throttle boost control.

Looks sexy. Too bad it won't really be visible once the car is done.
