Why do you want a USB one? I have a Gopoint bluetooth clone and it works great.

Reverse polarity circuits are a thing, why aren't they standard on cars?

As if I didn't have enough problems. Ever since the climate control module was replaced, my defroster hasn't worked correctly. Turning on the "max defrost" would rev the fans to jet engine levels, but I can barely feel any air coming out of the center windshield vent. All the other vents work fine and blow warm air.

Did some searching, and others have encountered this problem too.
There is a defroster flap which opens to direct air through the dash top vent to defrost the windscreen and this can fail for a number of reasons including electronic controller failure, flap jamming, defroster flap actuator failure or breakage of the plastic lever which connects the actuator to the flap.
It was -6F today, maybe something froze up? In any event, not looking forward to working on the car in the winter.

wouldn't put it passed the shop to fuck the flaps up while playing with the dash.

Nor would I, but replacing the last component didn't require any dash work.

My car has been in for a week, with no courtesy car because "they're all booked out", for the last two days they haven't even been returning my phone calls about where the work is going or what I need to authorise ordering.

Rang the chain's head office to complain and less than an hour later I had 50k's worth of runabout in my possession.

Might stop answering their calls for two days when they want it back, it's only fair...

Big volvo Suv, all the modern shit they put in. Automatic, which is unfortunate but I suppose the heated seats/steering wheel make up for it ;-)

It does, but it still took me 10 minutes to work out how to drive it properly :-/

Apparently, I am a simple man.

So my car has an exhaust rattle. Ive had a look under the car and it seems the middle pipe is sitting against the frame and that's why it's rattling. There is also an exhaust hanger that is free; it's attached to the frame but not the exhaust, but there's no bracket on that part of the exhaust.

The only thing that would make sense is if that part of the exhaust was replaced at some point with something not strictly designed for the car.

If I pull the exhaust to the right it comes away from the frame, but then the brackets are pulled off centre and obviously won't sit there.

The only thing I can think to do is wrap some kind of padding around there area where it knocks against the frame, but I'm not sure what materials will survive the heat and water.

    Any ideas?

This stuff is common, ask your parts guy for exhaust pipe wrap and bodge away. You could pull the whole thing and refit the hangers but you have to decide if that's worth the effort.

you heat the hangers with a torch and bend them a bit with a crowbar.

Honestly, you can probably get it fixed at a shop for very cheap, don't live with the bangin'.

On the JDM front, i'm doing a well deserved oil change monday and the rx7 is going to be on the road. I've started her twice to move her out of the garage for a garage cleanup and she started on first crank, that made me pretty happy. I've got a few things to do this summer for peace of mind and cleanup, but I should have a sorted car to have fun with.

The garage is so dusty that she was basically brown with dust. I need to clean her up good this weekend though.
