"Dangerous for the nearby infantry" is the only reason anyone ever brought up (as if a tank blowing up isn't lmao ehehehe). Russians were developing ERA since the fifties but military command didn't allow it in production until jews showed how effective their Blazer was. By that time T-72A already had NERA elements built in.

That would be funny if there was a more effective way to counteract shaped charge jets

Yeah I mean we ain't in Kursk anymore, I highly doubt that massed infantry will be hiding behind tanks while they trundle down the battlefield in the futur.

And it ain't like you won't be vaporized by a tungsten rod going through regular NERA composites at 2km/s right by where you're taking cover anyway.

As an aside, if you check the end of the video they shoot a probably dummy HE-FRAG or HEAT shot at an old van and it leaves holes like we live in a cartoon with a perfect round hole and 4 perfect fin shaped lines. Quite satisfying! (at 4:20 something)

Bundeswehr infantry using the Puma IFV as cover. I couldn't find a photo from Prizren where German infantry used a Leopard 2 as cover. It's probably a reason why they don't use ERA.

Thinking that the battlefield of the future even looks like divisions of armor rolling at each other is pretty far off the mark. Massed tanks are the modern battleship.
