I remember when I was over in Holland and we visited the base of the Korps Commando Troepen they had in the base on display what I can only describe as what looked like a toy tank probably the size of the vehicle Keorythe posted above and I think it dated from around 50/60's.. I know it's a stab in the dark but anybody got any idea what it might be?

The SPz 11-2 saw service with the West Germany army only.
so no, the same applies for the Wiesel above, Germany is the only operator. Couldn't find the vehicle using wikipedia, instead I found out that as of last year the Dutch have as many tanks as the Belgians.

The Chippewa believed that the weasel could kill the dreaded wendigo giant by rushing up its anus.

    VW, military conversion?

    M24 Duster:

    M41 Walker Bulldog:

    Stridsvagn 74:

Maybe an M113 APC? But you said it was like a toy tank, so the M113 doesn't make any sense.

Other than those, I have no idea. Go http://www.militaryfactory.com/armor...-1960-1969.asp and check out the armor they have listed, and use the 1950-1959 link at the bottom for the previous decade.

One should note that the Korps Commando Troepen is the Dutch special forces unit. Who knows what they displayed there. Maybe someone can scour the Internet for a list of exhibits? Their English and Dutch official website is rather non-informative in that regard.
    nevar forget

Thanks for the help guys I think it might have been a wiesel as that name kinda twigs a memory cell... It may be that I just remember the approx date wrong but alas I cannot really be sure as I saw it when I was there during the 60th anniversary celeberations of liberation back in 2004 so it's so long ago it's hard to recall now.

Close, 105mm recoilless rifles. They were apparently very popular with the marines in Vietnam, since they packed a shitload of firepower in a lightweight package that could get over poor terrain easily. They never got auto-loader upgrades though, or they would have been truly terrifying. I imagine that having to get out and reload after six shots sort of sucked for the crew.

I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those Thukkers, that way I wouldn't have to have any goddamn stupid useless conversations with anybody.

One would hope that after a troop of those had fired off their rounds that you wouldn't have to worry about getting out to do your reloads.

recoiless rifles are good for packing a punch, only problem is that the world and his dog can pinpoint you when you fire one due to the backblast.

The British version was the 120mm Wombat. Also known as the VC gun for the very reason I just pointed out

Much like a TOW HMMMV, you shoot then scoot. Little things like that are made are made to be fast and protect against small arms but not much else. It's just an up armored version of the jeep mounted types from the old days. Only you get 6 shots instead of one.
