They need a bigger team on this, to do each ship class in one update.
It was one guy two months ago (Ytterbium), it's gone up to three people now (Ytterbium, Tallest and Fozzie).

Is it a sign that all minmatar TP boats are going missile only?
I guess Huginn and Belicose wouldn't mind...

    Holy EW Frigs!

I don't know what ECM changes await, but that Griffin is already better than a Kitsune when you factor in the 50% better targeting range and extra rig slot. With a proper fit and skills, it could easily jam out from 100km with 40 points of total jamming and enough speed to kite anything short of a fast t1 frig, jag, or inty. Considering the meta-4 ECM mods sell for fuck-all, that is an awful lot of jam power and speed/range in a ship that basically costs 1 mil isk fully fit. ECM might get nerfed to oblivion of course.

Damp and TD bonuses get bumped up to 37.5% which is huge. Bigger than you might think if you are used to doing the numbers on ROF & damage bonuses. With spec-5, TD/Damp rigs and an unbonused Info superiority link, you are looking at ~90% strength TDs and 75% strength damps. Two bonused TDs and you are looking at about -99% to optimal/falloff or tracking (lol!?!). Two bonused damps and you've got about -93% targeting range.

An Investor TD with a Proteus EW link could get up to 94.6% strength if I did my math right. A Crucifier with the right fit could lock and hit it's TDs from 150km too. Scary.

Vigil looks great too but not nearly as nasty as the rest.

EAF, EWar Cruiser & Recon balance is going to be interesting to say the least.

Would fixing damps reduce the changes needed to the hull?
7.5% bonus was the absolute minimum change i had recommended.
It's not that amazing on the Maulus, but I think it's a pretty safe bet that damp change will transfer to the other relevant hulls, where it will be far more impressive.

Won't really talk about anything else since I'm still under NDA. However, Cormorant should lose that utility high and not the 4th mid.

IMO way too many Caldari ships have too many high slots and not enough mids. The Caldari interceptors, for instance.
    Contract stuff to Seraphina Amaranth.

The Maulus looks quite fun now. If these changes are anything to go by, the Keres looks like it'll be quite fun to fly.

I was just using the maulus as an example of what I hope is how they were thinking when coming up with the changes. (I've always liked it anyway as a cheap nuisance frig). It would be really stupid for them to get most of the way through the balancing pass, then change the ECM mechanism (or switch racial EWAR, or whatever) and have to go right back to the start.

the coercer doesn't actully gain anything with the extra mid, just loses dps with the -1 lowslot.

am a bit sad, was my favourite dessie.

I actually think if the Coercer was just given an extra mid without losing a low it would be balanced against the other Destroyers, but not many people are fond of having ships in the same class having different amounts of slots.

    *fiddlefiddle*

    - mwd, 3x painter, 1 sebo - with gang bonus, that's 140km (or 146km) targeting range. with 3x optimal rigs, 3x painters can reach ~106+90km.
    - 3x painters (+51.56% each) combine to +184%.
    - throw in a link-proteus for 69.69% painters @ 143+90km - combined: +280% signature
    - missile boat means extra cargo means more asb abuse \o/

Got really excited for 2 more mids, then realized no more velocity bonus. This is bad idea. This is like removing carriers from protoss. Badbadbadbad

for frig V, the 'base' speed changes from... 441.25 to 400
    aka -9.35% overall
    frig-III roughly remains on par

i'll miss the 5m³ hero drone more 8[

edit: someone tell these guys how everybody else calcs/derives cap/s already

I'm ok with the Vigil change. I just want ECM nerfed into oblivion ASAP.

Exactly what that game needs :mindfuck:

Out of curiosity, how often do you Storyline-fit your Tech I frigates?

No one would use investors on a crucifier of course, but I am assuming the proposed EW changes on tech-1 frigs will also be applied to EAFs, EW cruisers & Recons - I use investors on a Curse and I know another person in my corp that does too.

The point is, TDs are already very strong, particularly on a bonused ship with the buffed T2 info warlink and new TD rigs. Even a 3-mil throwaway crucifier with an info link on a drake will get three 85% strength TDs that it can land with 150km optimal & 150km lockrange on a very fast hull. Those TDs are strong enough that even one will shutout any turret ship that isn't shooting a double-webbed target at point-blank. The inability to work against long-ranged HML ships is the only thing that will keep them in check.

7.5%/lvl is a good bonus for the damp ships at least initially - it's still a little bit weak without an info link or rigs, but perfectly balanced with them. A 10%/lvl bonus would also work, especially considering the range limitations, but it would mean you can get 85% strength damps. That is probably no worse than 85-95% TDs hitting from 150km though. At 12.5%/lvl you could net north of 92% strength damps which is far too strong, and at 15%/lvl (which some people have proposed) you could actually get 100% strength damps.

85% damps/TD's would be the new ECM, I want e-war to be effective but I don't want a situation where clever pilots can't mitigate the effects of ewar through clever piloting. I really don't think they should go above 75% max(links, faction gear + rigs).

Damps are NOTHING REMOTELY similar to ECM.
One takes you out of the fight completely with at least one module, the other limits your lock range.

Basically, the damp change means you need to have 2 damps (plus rig iirc) on a single target to limit their lock range to ~10-15km for sub-BS (no sebos), instead of 4.

I know that, but I was talking about a hypothetical 85%+ number (for Damps), not as they are now and with a 7.5% bonus.

What I was getting at is that I think 10% bonused Damps, as some people have mentioned, would be too much and that TD's are too much as they are now on the Crucifier.
