Never heard of needing an accountant, maybe in some jurisdictions? What you need is an authorized agent, there are plenty of companies that will provide this service at a relatively modest cost. I would consider talking to a lawyer.

I'm not sure taxes have anything to do with this - Cerbus mentioned Kickstarter; I think he's looking for American funding, not American taxation

I probably worded that wrong. What I meant was that we'd probably need someone in America to look after the tax and IRS requirements of the American LLC company as finance is outside of the scope of our partner there.

Correct.

Although one of our other partners is from the UK, residents from there won't be eligable to create a Kickstarter campaign until the end of the year.
I'm quite realistic on the chances of getting funding from a website like this, but its worth a try even if the end result is just exposure.

Soon to be CPA here, I will look into it.

Edit: So what exactly are you looking to do then? Create a subsidiary in the United States, and sell part of the equity in that subsidiary to raise cash?
