I don't get how this shouldn't be in general. I like to discuss things with people, even if you dont want to let them into your supergroup.
You have your serious business topics, let us have our regular discussions.
if people want to discuss a topic without trolling and in a srs way they can make a thread in that forum.
if they want to discuss a topic while trolling, going off topic and all that in general chat, then let them.
Didn't he just ask people to take gun control discussions to the appropriate thread, and let this thread focus on the shooting? O_o
I'm confused at the rage.
Srs bans is for srs discussion of srs topics. Surely that means terrible discussion of srs topics and srs discussion of terrible topics should be in general, with terrible discussion of terrible topics getting ignored and or locked? This thread is a p terrible discussion of a srs topic, hence this is the correct forum. Qed.
Spent the past weekend at Rebellion myself, my second time. I will continue going because a lot of the people there punks and skinheads are generally the nicest people you can meet, i was apprehensive about going last year due to the stereotypes but found it was a very close knit community which appears to do more towards stopping racism and the other negative perceptions than most others do and with everyone knowing everyone people quickly become social outcasts if they come out in support of extremist views.
"But the vast majority of this forum is European and/or highly urbanized and quite liberal in their firearms views. Take this discussion to ih8mud.com (Toyota Land Cruiser forum) or even knifeforums.com and you'd see the opposite."

The hell I can't! I can get as angry as I want. But I may have to face the consequences.
It doesn't.The concept behind that old quote "An armed society is a polite society," isn't fear of getting shot, it is the fact that people carrying a weapon have a moral responsibility to be polite. If they can't handle turning the other cheek, they shouldn't be armed.
Hope that made sense.
There's several things wrong with that quote:
1. It's a pithy saying with no known source.
2. Those I know who carry aren't polite.
3. Society today has changed, and is no longer polite.
4. The people who are polite aren't those who are armed, it's those who encounter armed persons. The phrase is simplistic claptrap that is short for "You don't know if I'm armed, so assume that I am, and treat me with respect. Otherwise..."

Given that he was a white supremacist shithead, it seems to me to be fairly likely that he was an equal-opportunity hater.
In other words, murdering any randomly chosen brown/foreign people (or gay or left people) would work for the purposes of impressing other heavily tattooed losers, justifying some cool new tattoos and guaranteeing status in prison.
Unlike say Anders Breivik, of the euro/militant wing of the Tea Party, whose targets pretty much had to be either Muslim or 'cultural Marxist' to support his propaganda goals.
