But yeah, I shot a recurve in competition for a bit. It was lots of fun but I developed some massive "target panic". Basically I had no control over where I released the arrow, my brain would just be like "OHSHITTHERESTHETARGETFIRERIGHTNOW!!111" and I'd release. Even if I drew with a closed fist so I couldn't let go of the string easily, my arms would spazz out wanting to fire. It did lead to some pretty cool reflex shots (including a bullseye from half draw), but ultimately was too aggrevating to deal with when shooting in competition. The weirdest part is that I don't have that issue at all with any other shooting sports, only archery.
