What harm exactly do you see coming from the thread? Why is it that you want a thread/subforum that most people have no interest in, but you don't want a subsect of the people who do to have something you're not interested in?


19/26 is a consistent voice?

As far as I'm aware, the pony subforum was sprung on us as a bit of a surprise. It certainly came as a surprise to me, and I'm unaware that anyone else had been agitating for one. For the most part I think we were happy with the megathread. So it's not really that we want a subforum, but that we were gifted with one.

And you're missing the point by suggesting that 19/26 is the metric to use. Those who are -active contributors- to the megathread, i.e. the actual people for whom this subforum is intended and have spoken up in this thread have said 'no'.

Bingo. It's a very amusing children's show. We're trying our damnedest to enjoy it that way, without the wicked underbelly of the internet (and specifically the Greater Internet Fuckward Theory) creeping in. I really, really want to just enjoy this show with other EVE/Failheap players without anyone wandering in and being given good reason to think we're pedos or furries.

Voted no. Don't see the harm in having such a thread, just as I don't see the harm in having that stuff exist on other sites. Fact is, most of the people in this subforum don't need / wouldn't use such a thread, as there are better places for that sort f thing, and the interest would be (I'm guessing) comparatively small.

I'm fine with people being into whatever they're into - I'm even fine with them doing it here, if there's significant interest in it. This goes for any of the other NSFW threads on Failheap. However, since (most) of the people who contribute non-troll pony content aren't interested, might as well keep that sort of thing to other sites. I'm an infrequent contributor, so take it for what it's worth.

I know it's probably upsetting for you that a chunk of your community is into that sort of thing, but the truth of the matter is that they are. Your eagerness to do away with them in this place is just as bigoted as someone sending their kids off to church camp to "pray away the gay". You might not be proud of them for being the way they are, but mindless suppression to preserve your precious (and imagined) image in the eyes of others isn't going to solve anything.

The whole "We're a bunch of grown men obsessed with a television show for pre-teen girls - but by god do we have standards when it comes to weird shit" is about as fair and rational as "Sure we're going to lynch blackey tonight - but at least we're going to give him a show trial first, Mr Finch".
