Why? Simple. When the MLP craze started the vast majority of FHC didn't want you here (I mean really didn't want you here, not in a joking manner). And tbh I think the majority STILL don't want you here. But since Entrox has a soft spot for ponies he made us accept it, while establishing clear (and very well enforced) guidelines to keep that crap contained to one place.
And it's worked. Even though I still think there has to be something wrong with an adult to obsess over something meant for little girls, the thruth is that there is plenty of stuff wrong with all of us. The MLP thread has attracted many new members to FHC, and is one of the reasons FHC isn't just an EVE-related forum anymore (even though dinosaurs such as cippa don't understand that yet), which is a good thing. Many of those new members are now well-respected members of our FHC community.
Trying to be a snob about your own kink and wanting to deny others who are a subculture of your subculture makes the people who voted no terrible, bigoted, hypocritical hipsters. A NSFW porny thread won't hurt anyone. The crap will be contained to one thread that you don't have to open if you don't want to. "Normal" people already think you're depraved paedophiles, even when you aren't posting NSFW porny stuff, so those opinions will be hardly affected. And if it still makes you ashamed more about the stuff you do anonymously on the internet you should talk to your shrink about that.
Denying others the right to do what they want, even though they aren't hurting anyone by doing it, just because you don't want to be associated with them, is something you should feel really ashamed about. One of the best things about FHC is how accepting we are of weird stuff, and denying one more little weird thing has the potential to ruin all that.

What you want is for our "open" club to have no set purpose or restrictions, for anyone to be able to do whatever they like.
