Got a friend coming to my new place tonight. Gonna drink a lot of whisky and play a lot of MTG. Then this weekend, chipping up fucking tile adhesive off my kitchen floor so I can put the new flooring down. Already done about half of it and it's fucking horrible to get off

How are you getting it off? Wallpaper steamer helps to get it off a treat, softens the adhesive then you can just scrape it off.

Screwfix do a similar one if you have one nearby, I would certainly try the steamer out though as I would imagine if you are having to use a bolster chisel and hammer to get some of the adhesive off then that scraper alone would struggle on the tough bits. (one Rans recommended looks like the whole end is the blade where as the Wickes/Screwfix have replaceable blades that probably aren't as good.)

Yeah, this adhesive is quite tough stuff. It was used for cementing down big tiles (about an inch thick) but the retard who I bought the house off had put them in without checking if kitchen appliances would still fit under the counters (I probably should have thought it a bit odd they had under counter space for washing machine and dishwasher but had chosen put them along the blank wall by the door instead).

Also wouldn't a wallpaper scraper cost me like £50 or so? Doesn't seem worth it when a bit of hard work will get it off.

Alas, the only room that had wallpaper was the lounge and we stripped and repainted that last month.

Steamer will not work on floor adhesive...and if it was proper floor tile, it is most likely thinset. Best bet is to chisel away and skim the floor with a leveler.

Also, laundry dudes out here are fuckwits, this morning none of my laundry came back on time for me to go on shift so I had to go downstairs into the bowels of the barge (laundry room is in the machinery space below deck) and search through the driers to find my clothes. Seriously, I drop it off at 2:00 and they can't manage to get it back before 11:30?
