Not a huge anime fan, but watch "Baccano!", its a hilarious mindfuck. (Came across it while trawling tvtropes, surprisingly good resource to find stuff you might like).
Glad I'm not the only one who couldn't really get behind that show. Giant robots, unimaginably over the top, I should have loved it. I ended up sticking with it til the end because my friends wouldn't shut the fuck up about it, and all I felt was kinda meh about the whole experience.
Too many drastic tone changes for me I think. I think my favorite part of the show was the opening of the very first episode where it's all artsy digging. I had no idea what I was getting into, but I was pretty ok with just watching something weird and interesting for a while. Then... robots? Ok, I like robots. Then tragedy? Wait, I thought we were just having fun here. Then political intrigue, then space, then punching god in the face. Jack of all trades, master of none.

So with Bleach descending deep into fillers it would appear, I need something dumb but entertaining to occupy my time. I'd also love for something good to watch that is along the same tone and style of Ergo Proxy or GiTS. Do I ask for too much, SHC animefags?

Same tone and style as Emo Proxy... well, there's Cassern Sins which has a lovely art style and similarly apocalyptic mood, but it suffers from 1A/2S syndrome, i.e. 1st half = Awesome 2nd half = Shit. Still worth it imo. And if you want something truly heavy Kara no Kyoukai will hold you down in your seat and shit on your chest for thinking you were cool enough to watch it.
Spring season just began, anything good? Winter was so Meh.
