Was it? Because gawds, it seems to get worse and worse as every episode passes... I think the biggest issue is everything seems so meaningless so even the fights have zero stakes. For that matter, how the hell does the Fate Verse have such crappy character designs?

Watching two servants verbally fight because a third character is too weak... to... I don't know... be dragged away?

Apocrypha is the moment Nasu realized he could just write in waifus left and right and still make bank

It's literally waifu central with 2 relevant male characters thrown in alongside the MC (I'm not counting Rider as male for the purposes of waifu counting)

Watch it for Mordred/Rider/Jeannu banter and you can safely ignore the story

This isn't even a case of bad adaptation tbh, in fact I'm pretty sure Achilles has gotten at least double the dialogue in the anime so far.

I would need your kind help.

Where can I get / download or stream the Mahouka Koukou no Rettouse movies?

I know I'm bad the characters are OP, etc. etc.... but I would avoid any shady sites if you would have any good one to check.
I would pay with reps and gratitude

Halka is a big baka and also wrong but in the future check both nyaa.si and nyaa.pantsu.cat

I'd expect any /new/ movie release to have a couple of hundred seeds but the highest result for "Mahouka" is only 15 or so, which is a good tip that there's nothing to find

Good to see Gamers can keep building the misunderstandings from episode to episode. It's certainly a novel way to run a romcom. Will be interesting to see how it all wraps up though, because it certainly can't clear up all the shenanigans (nor does it really need to, I'd be on board with a SSN2).

Even when they knock off a misunderstanding, it creates more!

Zooming out the current relationship chart to avoid spoilers. This can't really defeat Made in Abyss as best damn show of the season, but it's a strong contender and a damn fine show.

Rewatching full metal panic, and it seems to me that anime has become more serious since then.

The kind of gags and overly simplistic tropes are not really present in contemporary anime.

FMP The Second Raid is the more serious one, the first FMP was never really all that serious. It's much more serious than Full Metal Panic Fumoffu, but it still has a mix of comedy.

Preferred the first season of FMP, though I can't remember enough of either to elaborate on why.

edit: Finished Sakura Quest. It was...okay? I liked the ending & it was easy to watch. But it was twice as long as it could have been, had a weak support cast & too often felt like a high school club pretending to be office workers. Think Locodol did the rejuvenating the local community thing better & Non non Biyori did living in the sticks much better.

    Finally watched SAO Ordinal Scale...

There are a lot of neat scenes, and some genuinely fun moments. And there's definitely some really grand animation moments.

Having said that, there's a fair amount of bad things as well.

I think someone needs to pry SAO away from Reki and hand it to the writer of the Progressive Manga... because that tackles a LOT of the issues I have with SAO in general. But ach well, I guess it gave them a hook to Alicization? Then again, it is a Sony movie, so of course it's pure shite.

Haven't seen anything yet that I'd call good, though nothing especially bad either. Since nobody asked:

My Girlfriend is a Gal - At first I thought they were going for a similar "don't judge a gal by her bronzer" thing to Please tell me! Galko-chan. But it quickly becomes just another forgettable romcom.

Hina Logic - Started out as an alright cute magical school girl show, but it ran out of ideas long before it ran out of episodes.

Tsundere Children - First three episodes are pure confession porn. After that it tries to develop the relationships of some of the pairings, with varying degrees of success. Best thing I've seen so far.

Aho Girl - If you've ever found yourself saying "it's so unfair that girls can hit boys but boys can't hit girls" then this is the "comedy" for you.

Fox Spirit Matchmaker - Starts off rough but has improved over its runtime. Something seems to be causing the latest episode to be delayed, though, which is odd since afaik they're just splicing together & dubbing the Chinese ONA episodes.

My Centaur's Life - Some of the Slice of Life vignettes are good. But it has almost no structure & tries to use its manimals as a really clumsy race metaphor; culminating in - I shit you not - a holocaust episode.

Restaurant to Another World - 12 minutes of someone going into needless detail about their backstory, taking a bite, their eyes widening & agonizingly detailed descriptions of what they're eating; accompanied by flat, boring visuals & music that mean you don't experience anything of what they're exclaiming. Repeat 24 times. Watch it with your eyes closed & it's pretty much an audiobook.

This season, in no real order. TL;DR? Watch Gamers & Made in Abyss. There are other really solid shows, but I'm enjoying the hell out of both.

Tsurezure Children - I watched the first EP, but realized I wasn't really in the mood for that type of romance atm, and ignored it. I've heard enough overwhelmingly good buzz that I decided to download a batch of the show and will marathon it sometime soon'ish. When real life is a bit less hectic.

Gamers - It's pretty much pure misunderstanding porn. The first EP was pretty bad, IMO, but subsequent episodes have been getting better and better. This isn't a 'it gets better, honest' sort of review. It's a really good show that just did a bad job of it's intro EP (mostly because the first EP didn't really have any misunderstandings. It probably won't be for everyone, but it's definitely worth giving it a shot. Just move through EP1 without making assumptions about the story.

Ballroom e Youkoso - I normally like Sports anime, and this is definitely one... even if the 'sport' is a bit eccentric. No odder than other recent offerings. It looks solid, but I don't have a lot of free time so I gave up after a few Eps. It's not a bad show by any means, just felt fairly formulatic (sports anime, natch).

Boku no Hero Academia - If you liked the first season you're virtually guaranteed to like the 'more of the same' stuff here. Thourghly enjoyable, if you're into that stuff.

Made in Abyss - You really owe it to yourself to give this and Gamers a try, they're the standout winners this season. This show has a fair amount to unpack, but it's a grand olde ride.

Nana Maru San Batsu - 'dat other eccentric sports anime. I actually watched more of this than ballroom. While the animation was clearly subpar, I thought it had a lot going for it. No free time and what not led me to drop it fairly fast, but I think I'll enjoy finishing it on some far off day.

New Game!! - 'dat other sequel show. If you liked the CGDCTs from Season 1, you should like this one too. Character growth, new characters, and stuff. Very solid continuation. It's still not Shirobako, but it doesn't have to be. If you liked SSN1 and you're into this, you should enjoy more of the same.

Princess Principal - I watched a few Episodes, enough to think it was nifty, but not enough to commit to the long-haul. It's probably worth giving a try for a few episdoes to see if it's a good fit.

Shingeki no Bahamut - Virgin Soul - Did you like SSN1 of Virgin Soul or the original? You'll probably like this. I haven't seen a single EP of the second half though, so who knows... but it's probably worth mentioning here.

Shoukoku no Altair - It's highly similiar to that 'Denka! anime'. If you got the reference and enjoy historical war anime, you should enjoy this one. I didn't have the time to get very far into it, but it feels rather solid. Probably another 'it gets better as it goes along' because it feels like another show with a lot to unpack.

Fate Apocrypha - Utterly forgettable trash, I guess? I mean, it's pretty bad and stuff IMO. Worth watching an Ep or two for the best girl contenders, but meh?

Re-Creators - I really liked the start, I really disliked the middle, but this one actually had some interesting things going for it.

    Gamers EP12

Holy shit, that was quite possibly the single most meta EP in a long damn time. It felt really damn fast, and was a grand conclusion. And to quote someone on Reddit:
Common sense: You can't substitute plot with fan-service.
    Gamers: Hold my beer.

They basically made the girls naked for a quarter of the show, and the fan service didn't overshadow the meta. If you enjoy games, the meta conversation is worth the cost of admittance alone. Hell, I'd almost consider suggesting gamers watch EP12 alone, it was really good. And if you don't really enjoy what you're watching, there's five minutes of naked girls. EP12 is a weird combo of tournament arc, onsen episode, and uber meta DLC content for the show itself. If felt like pure OVA content, really. EP11 really was the end, so this was just fun icing (thus the DLC comparisons). Also, it's not like there's much else to adapt so they need to let the LN writer make more. Here's hoping that gets translated, and we get a second season someday.

    Also, Chiaki best girl

    Ordinal Scale is confusing me

Are they just larping around to "normal" people, why not just take the headsets off

bleurgh, cringing slightly too much to finish it I think
