You can't have internet spaceships IRL, but you can have Mechs!

This is real, and you can get one for $1.35m.

This just jumped onto my top 10 of "if I won the lottery I would buy" list.

It doesn't walk. I feel cheated. If it doesn't walk I'd rather get a tank and some road legal rubber tracks for about £30k.

    Tank looks less gay too.

Don't worry, they'll get bought out and the plans will be militarized. Replace stupid hands with proper guns and a tank tread base. However tanks would still win.

It looks like another dumb art project that people with more money than they know what to do with can buy. If they wanted to impress me they should have put out some un-edited video of someone manipulating the arms to pick up objects, shooting the miniguns and hitting targets accurately, driving it around some kind of course, etc.

For a minute I was really interested in the control system for the arms until the part where they mention that smiling activates the guns. I get that they were trying to be funney, but anyone capable of producing a control scheme that stupid probably didn't do a very good job on any of the other controls either.

Assuming it actually works better than holding the minigun yourself while pulling the ammo behind you on a wagon.

    Pfffffffffffttttt

Twin barreled 30mm autocannon, 4 launchers for tank-busters, two automatic 30mm grenade launchers and a PKTM.

Also has more armor than modern MBTs, goes 65 kph and looks way sexier than this abortion.
The pricetag is somewhere between 3 and 5 millions though.

For 3-5 million, how many of these could I buy?

Behold the South African Ratel IFV, i.e. what the US military should have used when Hummers were getting blown up by IEDs.

It has wheels. Real Mechs dont have wheels. Hell this is basically just an oddly shaped car. Also lol at 1.3 million for some metal plating and hydraulics.

Take what is essentially a small sized japanese car.
Put "carbon armor" (I love how they give no further details) on it.
Mount two "arms" with hydraulic clutches with no function what-so-ever.
Mount miniguns onto the two arms.
Make flashy video with no specific details and claims such as "making your dreams of being a robot pilot come true".

    Voila.

    Not a mech.

You'd probably do better with an (at home) up-armoured bulldozer for property destruction and spreading chaos, for significantly less dollars. It would also be much more survivable than this thing.

Or if you had the funds, buy something that Razor or Nordstern linked. Personally, I wouldn't mind a modernised Strv 103.

Well my assessment of it is that it's a carbon fibre shell (to reduce weight) cast to resemble battle armour. No practical protection other than to keep the dust off of the frame.

IIRC the command seat has a bullet proof front but I wouldn't be eager to go charging a police road block with it, all the same.

Not watching the video again (saw it all last night) but also the "miniguns" fire (allegedly) 6000 bb's a minute. There is also a rocket pack that fires water bottles, or something.

With some extreme retrofitting (Or better yet, a complete rebuild) I think it would make the basis of an excellent riot suppression unit.
