Meh change.
KaBoom is now always a good KaBoom!!!
They could remove self destruct altogether when this comes in if they gave us the option to eject from pod
But i still think its a cool feature to have just because of *sandbox*, would be fun if they gave it an aoe, at least for supercaps. A titan going up should level a few square AU imo!
tbh I would be OK even if no loot dropped, as long as I got the killmail to preserve the tears with.
Contract stuff to Seraphina Amaranth.
"You give me the awful impression - I hate to have to say - of someone who hasn't read any of the arguments against your position. Ever."
It's great that loot will now drop but why should the aggressor get a kill mail when the victim effectively kills himself?
Because the victim usually kills itself because it would loose otherwise anyways. The sole reason for battle-selfdestructs is and was killmail-denial for hard-earned kills.
P.S.: Yes, I am still pissed for not getting that Malediction-solokills-Thorax mail from over a year ago, because he had so much time to SD himself >.<
I know, that's my point. I've lost countless kills to people SD'ing and at the time it was infuriating, objectively though it always seemed to fit (for me at least) rather well with eve's unforgiving nature.
I guess ultimately people need killmails to validate their ability. *shrug
I don't much care about kb e-peen and efficiency (it's a stupid number that can be pretty easily gamed), but being as the intent of killmails is to accurately report the destruction of spaceships, failing to report on self-destructions seems like a big oversight. v0v
from my pov :
always (almost) in war sd destroyed vital components of tanks/planes/what ever. (yeah i know, retarded rl blah blah)
all things equiped on ships should be destroyed.
all stuff in cargo should have a chance to drop.
+1
There needs to be a difference between someone self-destructing and being destroyed by hostile forces otherwise CCP might as well rename the option to "I'm bored now" or "I'm stuck in WH space" and make the timer 10 seconds or something.
Scuttling is/has long been something ship captains have done in battles to deny their enemy valuable intel. Whilst there isn't a direct corollary in Eve (a kill report will still tell your enemies everything you had fitted, and it's not like it's blueprints for an Enigma machine or anything) successfully self-destructing your ship in Eve should imo be treated differently than it just exploding.
Perhaps you could appear on the kill report with the final blow doing 0 damage (or -1 so killboards can be re-coded to not give someone an equal win/loss from it), or maybe it just looks like a normal kill report. Either way it should result in no modules being dropped, or at the very most a chance for your cargo items to drop (I think this is the case now).
so... i take it we (all) would've preferred either loot or killmail instead of both and this is just :ccp: overdoing it?
Well, as for me, I never knew that SDing didn't drop anything and as far as I am concerned, they can hide/mask the mods of the SD'd ship on the mail and destroy everything in the ship (except for the salvagable wreck!) or somesuch shennanigans. I'd just like to have some sort of documentation for absurd or unexpected kills, which is usually the case when my target SDs. Telling heroic tales of war is far much more interesting, when there are pics to prove itOriginally Posted by Durzel
