AAR for tonight time!

so as I logged in, dian was around the NWAF and there was supposedly people farming it, so I took Steve (my trusty hilux) out of hiding, and started heading that way. after a good ride, I ended up west of lopatino once again, and as I was looking for a quite place to leave Steve, I spotted 2 cars by the side of the clearing at 008 051.

Being the greedy bastard that I am, I decided to stop for a look as there wasen't anyone around, and found that both had a sliver of fuel left and nothing but shit as gear went, so I opted for another spot.

As I was making sweet retreat with Steve I spotted a guy on top of the hill straight south of the cars, and he opened fire on my sweet ride, slightly scratching the paint and slightly scratching my liver. As I was bleeding, I made an hasty retreat and called everyone on TS to come and l33t pvp his ass. 3 guys hoped in for the ride as Dianeces ( I think ) rounded everyone in his UAZ and we met on the road at 022 044 and started moving in the clearing like a gang of retards, firing automatic weapons at the ground. We got to the car as I was scanning like a madman with the l85 thermal scope, and I spotted a guy running down the hill from the south with, what I thought, was a m16 acog, everyone dropped to the ground but he didn't, so I opened fire.

He disappear in the bushes as I missed 4 or 5 shots (bad zeroing + the guy running full blast 90 degree) and unloaded on one of us looting the car with a silenced gun. I shot his face off when he got out of the tree, and we saved our guy who was bleeding on the ground.

Fat loot - SVD m4a3 cco sd with quite some ammo. So we loot him, one of the 4 guys who got lost comes back, we start heading out. I pick back Steve from the forest, and drive down to the clearing while we're rounding all 4 vehicules, and then decide to go take an overwatch from the south hill.

After a minute or 2, I scream BIKE BIKE WHO'SE ON THE BIKE and as nobody answer, I start firing. he's in the forest on a bike and he's swerving like a retard while i'm pelting him from afar. Eventually he get out of the wood and I nail him in the middle of the clearing. We all stop firing, and then we get shot at, mad search for the guy, queue 5 minutes of me screaming are you crouched? are you running? are you facing west? as we have 3 guys in the hill + one shooter atleast.

I end up finding him, fill the trees with bullets as he's running in zigzag through the forest, never to be seen again.

We then shot one of the car's wheel, fueled in lopatino, and went to berezino hospital to grab supplies. then we disbanded.

Steve is back at home warm and cuddly with his favorite trees.

I wanted to kill someone with my big gun, so I decided to camp Elektro for a bit. I saw a guy in the fire station but it was raining and the visibility was poor so I didn't shoot him. A few minutes later it clears up and I see a zombie aggroing towards the fire station. I spot a survivor running up the stairs and wait for him to loot something and pop him. It wasn't as satisfying as I'd hoped, kind of like killing noobs in a gay instalocking lowsec camp.



A bit later I ran into a brand new bug:

Got some sweet revenge.

I was set up to snipe the factory near Polana hoping that someone would drive in and park their car, making them an easy target. After waiting quite a long time (20-30 minutes) I hear a car drive by, coincidentally it was the one I left in Lopatino last night, but it never pulls into the factory and since it's going 100 on roads I couldn't hit it.

Since he wasn't interested in the factory I figured he was picking up someone by the coast, so I circle around to a different spot where I can see a roadblock and wait for them to come back. It probably takes at least another 40 minutes, but eventually I spot that rusty looking piece of shit coming straight at me from the east. When he slows down I put two rounds in the engine, the driver hops out and I put two in him as well. Then I spot the passenger and he gets one in the chest. Turns out it was good old Garcia and Flipfighter, the guy who found and broadcast the location of our camp two days ago. Eat it shitheads! First time I really appreciate those roadblocks.

Zombie KO'd me at 9500 health. It's a short KO so I get up again. KO'd again. Short KO, so I get up again, bleeding. I try running, KO'd again and I die. I run the 4 kilometers from Elektro to Shakhovka only to find that my corpse fell through the floor. So I guess I'll be waiting until Lingor Island happens, I don't feel like re-finding my GPS, NVG and AS50 on this dead as fuck map.

Whoa, hold on chaps.
There's a few things to consider about corpses disappearing.
1 - You sure someone didn't find, loot and hide it?
2 - Did you disconnect at any stage apart from respawning? (Even aborting to the lobby can despawn your body)
3 - 4k is a long way to run, your body could have despawned naturally. Seeing as you didn't have map upon respawn it might have been longer than 4k?

I don't really want to get in the habit of restoring peoples gear for things like this for a few reasons. It's an alpha and you all know it, shit goes weird and things bug out. I respawned my gear once when I spawned in a tree and snakes once when he spawned underground, bentguru got his stuff back a night or two ago when he glitched under the floor. And there's been a few other people who i've given small shit like maps etc, when server restarts went wrong.
Also, the second you get attached to your gear is the second you start logging in less. EG when I logged in today and found *all* my shit gone......nigga, your GPS NVG's and AS50 weren't a patch on what osmo found in my camp. 3 m4 sd's, 2 as-50's, at least 2 rangefinders and 1 NVG and GPS (might be a little hazy on this) aswell as 10 bloodbags etc etc, 4 antibiotics, 16 jerrycans, shittones of cooked meat. Literally, that ural was a mobile base for 5 people. I haven't logged on at all today after it.
Even grarr can say I wasn't bitter about the chopper btw, worst I got was saying "you'll have hell to pay" in chat directly afterwards and the closest I got to killing him was finding him in the warehouse near the starry sober tents 2-3 nights ago. And i know it was you motherfucker! It was night and I only had my as-50 with me and wasn't close enough for my m4

Anyways, Lingor. It's a smaller map, with much higher spawns. So it's pretty unbalanced. I still want to try it though but don't say I didn't warn you. I'll poke snake later, he said he was setting up a backup server for me to play with.
I'm loathe to say it's a PVP paradise because....Calling it right now, it's going to be horrendously one sided about 24 hours into it. I will throw up a server to mess around on though.

ALSO, I was chatting with kyriee earlier today, and there's a horrible duping bug going on with tents. Any tents that are flattened are respawning on restarts with all their gear. SO, I was thinking about a database wipe and fresh start. Thoughts?
Lastly, I do want to thank snake for providing the gear necessary for all this, he's still hosting this off his business connection so be sure and throw some love his way.


EDIT: was also cool as fuck when the chopper went down, I lost all upwards lift and it just glided down. I thought it was a slow enough descent to land safely but amanto and kyriee ejected and died (lol) and the chopper crashed, I was thrown around inside and went down to 4k blood and crawled about 5m from the wreck before burning alive. Was fun.

Was just 1 AS50, 1 rangefinder, and the M4s. No NVG or GPS. And some of it is already lost, see Baarhyn's last AAR.

Sidenote: DayZ really needs some sort of base camp infrastructure with better security mechanics than "well, I hope nobody happens to find it here." What we have now is basically POSes that have no forcefields but aren't on d-scan. Terrible. We need something like lockboxes that can be opened with a passcode or with a hacking program that takes 24 hours to complete (eg. reinforcement timer, but without the structure HP grind).

Not sure what you mean here. Is there just 1 really good, defensible position? My experience with Lingor in ACE is that it's a pretty nice, complex, evenly-furnished map.

This is a bug that happens on regular hive servers too, a database reset will clear out the old ones but the problem will of course return eventually. Got to just wait for DayZ to get less buggy.

I was logged off around 200m from the place where he died, I was going to nick his NVGs but the body wasn't there. Same thing happened with amantus' body the other day. I killed a zombie right around the same place and that body disappeared too.
