Spec Ops: The Line (gets a review about how it messes with you)

As much as I hate IGN usually, and that most console/FPS games are unoriginal, after reading this piece I'd have to applaud the designers for making a game that makes the player to consider their actions.

Personally, I probably won't play it, but it's a good piece on how one company managed to get people to react with something other than glee to shooting "military uniform from [insert country]."

Also, tried doing a search for the game on this subforum, didn't locate shit, so new thread.

    e: spelling whoop

holy shit. i really want to play this game now.

not often you find a shooter with a sincere attempt at having a real plot.

Am definitely going to try this. At least it's trying not to be another shitty fps clone.

Really wanted to play it, couldn't get myself over the bland, scripted, one-button-does-everything gameplay, uninstalled

Played this already - it's basically grimdark (fucking grim, believe me) deconstruction of modern shooters. The story unfolds in a very subtle way and it gives you couple of suprises along the way. Go play it guys, it's a rare gem in today's gaming industry (unless you hate cover shooters then you'll have a hard time).

Iirc RPS was somewhat impressed with its take on FPS's and the grim storyline but they thought the game mechanics were a bit wank.

    No choices whatsoever.

Rewatched Apocalypse Now after that and it was ten times better.

Seriously, i waited like a minute before doing that unintentional mistake Yahtzee spoke of thinking "and that's it?". I already knew because i could
      Spoiler:
    Don't.
      Spoiler:
see all the fucking civvies in the camera. And i knew it wouldn't let me just get out there and riddle the HMMWV senseless with regular bullets.

The end didn't clear anything except the "I get it - we have to choose" scene and the fact that Konrad was just in your head, really. It's only obvious we go completely mad.
Definitely worth a playthrough but nothing really exciting here except AK47 VIKTOR.
