Has anyone else noticed this pattern? Something horrible happens, and then the moral activism flares up for a month or two. If it's loud enough, something changes in the national discourse. If the anger isn't loud enough, everything slips back to normality after a month or so, with a bit more evidence that humanity is fucked up in our society's collective conscience. I don't think there is any tangible change that will truly prevent these kinds of incidents in the future; people are bad, and they will do bad things. I think the only thing to be done here is to make sure that we Americans don't let the incident be a catalyst for the further reduction of civil liberties.

Civilians ok, but police? Wtf dude. Great idea. Oh, that whackjob/gang member is shooting at bystanders or attacking a bank/whatever? Guess I will charge him with my trusty night stick!

Typical police in the UK don't carry guns and but for situations you describe there are armed units.
Guessing Anarkia was talking about a world where police were completely unarmed.

Although our police (UK) don't carry guns more and more are carrying Tasers.
Fair point about the tasers since guns are the only counter to them and if criminals take up firearms for that purpose then it negates at least one argument against police carrying guns.
Range counters tasers nicely. I suppose that stops you from brawling with a cop though. That said, why would you want to brawl with a cop?
You haven't lived in flyover United States, have you? Brawling with a cop is a time-honored tradition in many rural parts of United States. It's just like foxhunting in England.
I live in the Apps of North Carolina. My only experience with cops is calling them and trying to become one. I lost any inclination to brawl with a cop when I watched a retarded friend try to take the gun off a cop. Said cop elbowed him in the face hard enough to break his face(cheekbone broke quite cleanly). I guess it's me being a quick learner. The cops around here go all honey badger on anyone trying to brawl. It's considered a threat ad they pull guns quick.

Police in most states here are fucking pissed off assholes with power issues. I've yet to meet one that didn't think he was the shit, fondle his gun once a minute, and make aggressive or outlandish statements the whole time I was interacting with them. Arming them to deal with other armed criminals is insane in most counties in the U.S, armed response squads should be the norm. Also no one in that theater would of stood a chance with a handheld weapon due to the gunman having the ROF advantage and wearing fucking body armor. But yes, give more people guns!

For police to carry tasers in the UK requires the situation they're being deployed to meeting certain home office requirements, it requires the officers carrying them to be specially trained, and it requires explicit authorisation from the chief. It's hardly a rampant proliferation.

Good morning, shooters. Happy Friday! Weekend plans?"
That tweet was posted at 9:20 a.m. ET on Friday by an account for "American Rifleman," the official NRA journal. The group, which advocates for gun owners, appeared to have been pulled down from the Internet as of about 12:30 p.m. ET Friday.

Fairly obvious that the tweeter was unaware of the shooting. But retards are going to use this non-issue against the NRA as opposed to the thousands of other actual issues they could use if they had half a brain.

Uh... My Dad who recently retired from the Armed Response Unit will disagree with that one (and slag off the horribly pathetic processes to be able to use a taser).

for a taser? That doesnt seem a bit much when it's being given to a cop?

UK requires police officers to have 2 weeks of intensive training before they're allowed to put their boots on without supervision

Nah, but seriously, UK takes police training really seriously

Somewhat off topic, but before I go ballistic and do some shooting in a cinema or something, I have to get this off my chest: I am not a native english speaker. BUT WHY THE FUCKING CUNT do so many native people type "should of" or "could of" while they are clearly meaning "should have" or "could have"? I don't understand it and it's making me angry and scared at the same time.

Now on topic: Lunatics will be lunatics everywhere and always. My personal opinion is, that liberal weapon laws don't catalyze the absolute number of incidents like this, but they enhance the (bad) effects, i.e. casualties. Don't get me wrong. A person who really wants to commit an act like this, can do it pretty much everywhere on this planet, but making it harder for them doesn't hurt.

And unarmed Police does work. UK is an example. And I am not talking about the next 3 weeks, because of :Olympics:. I expect every british police officer to be equipped with a tactical nuke at least.

Say "should've". That's why people make the mistake.

Because the phrase typed out looks that way when using phonics.

It's pretty simple and I'm surprised you haven't figured it out for yourself by now. It's because when spoken out loud "should've" sounds very similar to "should of". Ignore it and just enjoy your feeling of superiority.

Well, thanks to your swift replies, but I am well aware of the similar phonetic sound of the expressions.

But it's turning the sentences to complete shit. Let's do a simple example:

"It would have been a better choice to order pasta back then."

This translates to: "Zum damaligen Zeitpunkt wären Nudeln die bessere Wahl gewesen."

Now the new and improved way:

"It would of been a better choice to order pasta back then."

    This translates to:

"Es wäre von gewesen eine bessere Wahl, damals Nudeln zu bestellen." (And I am being very gracious here).

    Now, common!

In other news, the CNN article has updated that a Federal investigation source has told CNN that the perp had died his hair red and told the police that he was the joker.

Now taking bets on whether anything CNN says will be related to the truth later.

When are we going to get photographs so we can glare at images of this fucktard?
