    Colorado theater shooting

Voice you opinions/rage/whatever about it here and not the thread dedicated to TDKR. I know they are related, but keeping them separate is for the best.

I'm not sure what's left to say that hasn't been said. The pro-gun people will say "don't think this means you can take our guns". The gun control people will say "this is why we need gun control". Fox News will blame this on Islam, Occupy, Liberals until something sticks and when it doesn't will complain that conservatism is the real victim here. Every one will mock Fox News for their terribleness. Al Simmons will tell us it wouldn't have happened with Ron Paul as president and sooner or later someone is going to start a pool to guess which episode of season two of 'The Newsroom' will cover it.

I love me some FHC, but the Ameri-hate, Eurocentric, Liberal/Socialist viewpoint of the majority here puts the few individualist libertarians (like me) and conservatives in a no-win situation. We'll be shouted down and insulted no matter what we say or think.
This is another thing I don't get.. You aren't being responded to in an outrageously offensive manner, but by people responding calmly with a number of well established arguments as to why gun control (in countries where guns aren't as proliferate) was thought up, and why it has a number of listed beneficial effects on gun incidents and crimes, as based on a global statistics from a compilation of countries that exceed the size and population of the USA.

Instead of seemingly even considering that perhaps your opinion isn't as logically justified as you thought, and rationally going through all the arguments in your head and then making an educated decision based on the information at hand, you flat out dismiss any form of debate, mutual consensus or discussion by citing that those disagreeing with you here are implied to be of a certain demographic group (eurocentric, anti-american, liberal majority) that are out to "Shout down and insult" well intentioned conservatives, and that no matter how you respond you are in a "no-win situation".

I mean, you don't seem like a hillbilly, and I consider it important to respect and not judge people I disagree with, so I'm going to assume you are an intelligent man, sir. Can you not see, then, how you are employing (probably unintentionally) every flawed rhetoric in the proverbial book, and shutting down any possible avenue of debate by staunchly refusing to consider (and let me point out there is a fundamental difference between "admitting you're wrong" and "considering you COULD be wrong") that your perspective may not be reliably and logically sound.

I'm not advocating for you to repent and admit "defeat", because I understand that would be contra-productive and for most people (perhaps not you, I don't know you) would involve Pride in the matter, which would unnecessarily complicate matters.

But I am asking you to do the rational, logical thing and critically deconstruct your own opinions and attempt to find flawed reasoning in your own rationale. It's the intelligent thing to do, and I would like to consider you an intelligent man.
Cross posting my post from DKR thread here, because I would like a response by Alistair.

I liked how they (police, government, whomever... THEY) said there was "no link" to terrorism.

Isn't this the definition of it?

Don't they mean there is no link to brown people?
Hello? Oh, hello! I'm sorry it's a very bad line. No, no no... but that's not possible, she was sealed in to the Seventh Obelisk after the prayer meeting. Well, no, I get that it's important... an Egyptian Goddess loose on the Orient Express. In Space. Give us a mo....

... don't worry about a thing, your Majesty; we're on our way.

Not necessarily. Mass murder does not necessarily equal terrorism., for the same reason that someone going postal at work isn't terrorism.

Link added. Sorry I should have added one from the start. Just up to my eyeballs with this and we are trying to get more information. If anyone has a better link, go for it.

It's domestic terrorism but it seems most people have forgotten that such a thing exists.
The 7/7 bombings in London were domestic terrorism but because they were Muslamic...

That's not to say domestic terrorism is any less evil than what people perceive to be the definition of terrorism today.

Live from the Police Chiefs news conference:

Suspect was dressed in (a broad array of tactical body armor, including throat and groin protection).

How does this play into the citizen Rambo theory that if everyone had guns, this wouldn't have happened?

I blame the RIAA/MPAA for this, had the poor victims been allowed to download the film instead and watched it at home they wouldn't have ended up dead trying to watch it at a public place.

There's no link to a movement or any real purpose to this. Just like school shootings here don't generally get labeled as terrorism. Also I wouldn't be surprised if it happened in another city that it would be called terrorism.

Since you don't have to have a background check or permit to buy guns in Colorado he probably just walked into a shop and bought them.

The insane thing is that terrorism seems to be determined by the reason someone like this does this sort of thing and not the act itself, as if the people being shot to pieces are in terror for anything other than the hail of rifle fire raining down on them.

Pick one of three troll answers:
-Sounds like an argument to allow citizens to purchase AP rounds.
-doesn't play in at all since you can't conceal carry into anything that that charges a door charge.
-wouldn't have happened if everyone had AR-15's (technical knowledge required: rifles defeat kevlar which is likely what they're talking about him having)

Just to comment on the problem of country with strict gun laws still have gun problems. The U.K. for example gets most of its imported fire arms from the US. so does Mexico, if countries like the US stops selling guns to the public in time there would be a knock on affect, sure with the number of guns around it would takes years to see an effect but it would still decrease circulation.

Just to note I am also fully aware this would never happen, but I like to dream of a world where fire arms are left to the military and civilians and police are unarmed.

So you think spiders are engaged in terrorism against people with acute arachnophobia?

    Any more dumb questions?
