You should get something like this too:-

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Action-Cam-3...2860734&sr=8-3

If you can find a better one I'd recommend. I've got that one, and it's great BUT it only records 20 minutes at a time, and it doesn't make any noise or anything when it's recording starts/stops so you're constantly checking if it's actually on or not. Asides from that it's actually got a really good quality picture. Then you can show us some pro cycling etc.

This one (And I presume most ones) comes with velcro straps that you can attach to your helmet to put it on there, or a mount to put it on your handlebars etc.

Nah, going to go with a ball breaker, would rather not try something new so suddenly.

So Finns, there's really no worries about pitching a tent literally anywhere?

Use the good old technique of trying to score some heroin and if you can get a lead on it get back on your bike.

Yeah, the mosquito situation is really bad right now and I'm like 600-700km south.. and am not surrounded by a shitton of fly-spawning lakes as the case in Finland is.

Still not sure what shoes to take: probably a pair of Ecco/Timberland/Camel sandals seeing how I need to replace the current pair anyway, and a pair of light sneakers to be safe. Then again one of the guys has done like 5 similar trips with just sandals :V

More or less, as long as it's not on someone's backyard/close to a home.

I'm sure you've googled already, but heres the rights.

Shuko, that's amazing. Nordic countries are great :V

.. is it "bad karma" to go tripping aboard with the same pannier bags that have once been run over by Lebanese kidnappers?

They weigh as well, or at least the Ortleib ones I have do. Once you load them full of junk you'll need a strong (heavy) rack as well. Be careful about loading all of your shit on the rear axle as it can make the bike unstable. Having some sort of front pannier can help balance the weight and reduce front wobble but, again, it's more weight. I dumped my loaded bike several times trying to hold it and open cow gates at the same time or haul it up and down steep trails.

Two weeks of riding every day is a lot, you'll probably want to figure in a couple of rest days.

I was pretty much done after going 145 miles in 36 hours on my loaded bike, including about six miles of rough trails that I had no business taking that bike on.

In :envy: of your awesome trip tbh. That looks like too much gear but it all packs nicley on to your rig without being too bulky.

    This thread is weirdly relevant...

A couple years ago I cycled on a 'mama-cycle' for 10 hours or so non-stop from the pacific coast of Japan to Odaiba in Tokyo, through the most bicycle-unfriendly hellscape only bureaucratic Japanese government workers could come up with.

    Also, I'm half Finnish.

So have fun with the mosquitoes, at least they won't kill you like the pedestrian-unfriendly stormdrains and juxtaposed concrete elements that made me wonder fuck why didn't I just throw my bike in the nearest ditch and take the train.
