Just because PL might know all the setups we're going to run, doesn't mean they know which any one we're going to run at a given time. It's like football - a single formation can have multiple things run out of it, from a run play up the gut, play action pass, pitch to HB, option, etc. Even us higher-ups don't know what we're running even hours before the match, and you can't counter them all.

Yes, he did see our exact setup. He in fact saw us testing it against pl double vindicators, and win, decisively.
But, we fielded a lot of setups over the past few weeks, so we really did just leave it to them to guess which of the teams we'd bring.
They anticipated, wrongly, that we would be using our flagship vindicator against them, and brought a great counter to it.
Why they brought malices against us specifically, I don't want to speculate, but that could've been a nasty turn of events with those hulls.
Again, this is just speculation.
