At first it was limited to posting on an obscure internet spaceships forum. Posters would occasionally be compelled to respond by posting an anime picture in lieu of a traditional "wordy" post. Since this generally resulted in a significant improvement to the quality of discussion on the forum it was tolerated.

Then the situation began to escalate. "Kransthow Syndrome" as it was christened by an anonymous poster called AmaNutin (shortly before he lost the ability to use his keyboard) started spreading to previously immune posters. It was at this time that K-Syndrome's first mutation was observed. Writings made by the posters - both computerised and through physical means - self-transmuted into seemingly random anime pictures whenever they were left unobserved. As you can imagine this was severely detrimental to many a poster's career but seemed destined to remain a scientific curiousity (especially once the originating forum's servers were obliterated via airstrike).

Then the second mutation occurred. Unaffected text left near a K-Positive picture were themselves altered to become anime. The contagion spread like lightning across the world, the internet providing a billion global flashpoints. Over the course of a week the overwhelming majority of human writing was lost in a firestorm of oversized eyes, oddly shaped chins and pink hair.

You would be amazed at how many important things are written text. Websites. Forums. Books. Laws. Warning signs.

Peace treaties.

North Korea kicked it all off - their mainly illiterate population changing from a liability to an asset overnight. They soon started their inevitable, bloody march south. Nuclear retaliation would have been inevitable had the launching codes been legible. The USA collapsed into a thousand warring microstates, all arguing over their memory of the parchment that used to be their constitution. Now Sephiroth stares balefully amid the flames from the hallowed document. Across the world public services implode and fizzle. Crime runs rampants as arrest warrants fade to Bleach!.

And me? Every hour I post this on every communication mode I can. There are billions of scared people out there who have to know what happened. I doubt I can do this for much longer as there are reports that K-Syndrome is mutating further and neutering computer code. I wonder how long we have until it invades our thoughts.

I Demand that he be reinstated, appointed Reichschancellor and given emergency powers to deal with the growing MLP/Anime threat before its too late.

Hast is the best mod. This forum NEEDS the iron fist and toothbrush mustache of Hast.
