Saving up for private school for my kids.

Looks like ~12k per year per child, which is a bit rough.

Can't. Have daughters, thus even more important to send them to private schools.
    Contract stuff to Seraphina Amaranth.

I was usually in the "top set" during high school so I didn't really come across any real violence. Most of my friends were medium-to-low set though, so I observed enough of it during recess and lunch...

... the only incident I remember is during one junior year there was a really psychotic student who fluked his results and got into one of our classes, who then proceeded to bully me and other students. Nothing physically serious, but enough to interrupt our learning that year pretty seriously. The teacher was little to no help.

I'm not sure how he got dropped back down the next year ... maybe after finals that year someone slipped into the staff room and carefully replaced his last few exam pages with blank questions.

Whenever someone starts talking about how awesome the education system is I tend to start laughing.

So, why don't I teach anymore? Well, I was working a 60% contract for the final semester of a school being closed for Title V violations. Went to a one day conference the district was holding for all the staff being dislocated, and came back to find that my six of my 1st period kids had gotten drunk off ever clear and vomited all over my desk, computer, and the substitute. Sub decided to leave for the day, and the office didn't send a replacement. My TA and another student snuck away, hid out in the girls bathroom, and gang raped a 7th Grader.

My school tried to cover up the whole thing to avoid a liability lawsuit, and convinced the girl not to press charges. Both boys got a five day suspension and transfer to a new school.

I raised enough of a fuss to get a disciplinary action in the principal's record, but he wound up taking an early retirement buyout offer and not much came of it.

I was so disgusted with the school district and the profession in general at that point that I never taught again. Lucked into a job running school outreach and public relations for a college with double the salary and half the workload, and haven't looked back since.
The fuck were you teaching, Stockton or something?

I went to a military boarding school for my secondary education. They had no qualms about suspending people, but it mainly tended to be for drinking and fucking. The most fun we had was on the penultimate night of the school year, wrecking everything that had been set up for the parade on the last day of the year, which usually had some general or local dignitary coming to inspect it. Whichever one of the parachute battalions was in Connaught Barracks (next door) at the time got given the probably shit job of security, chasing kids around all night.

My mum works at a comprehensive school not far from Aldershot, some of the stuff she has told me about is horrific. Mainly involves gypsy kids, who are the most fun because any disciplinary action towards them results in not only Big Mick and his eight brothers turning up for 'justice' on whichever teacher actioned the punishment, but also a visit from the Local Education Authority to establish exactly why the school are 'picking' on the gypos. Answer: because they're the ones turning up to school with crossbows and knives.

Expulsions in Britain: Yeah it is seen as a black mark against the school and is done as a last last last resort now (essentially when having the child in school will be more of an embarassment than booting it out). Also, the exclusion appeal board generally favours the child in most cases and can force the school to take them back. That seems to be changing with academisation as I know one academy that's taken out 6 so far this year.

So what generally happens is that the kids are put in Inclusion Units. This is the stereotypical room at the end of the field with brightly coloured posters on the wall and some poor guy who draws the short straw looking after whoever gets sent there.

A little word about alcohol: Drinking is rampant from Year 9 up. It's gotten to the point where the teaching unions have advised us not to go out at the weekends near our school's catchment area. lolwot.

EDIT - My hometown occasionally has the popo crackdown on underage clubbing. Every time this happens at least 1 club goes out of business.

I work at a pretty nice school compared to most mentioned here but we've got our share of shitty pupils. Expelling them is a real pain, it's not a case of suspend them and if they do it again then expel them. You've got to go through 3 or 4 layers of punishment within school, then suspension, then short term transfer to another school and then expel to another school permanently, and in the end it still costs the school about Ł10k to expel the pupil.

Oh God I forgot about managed transfers. That's when schools trade their shitty kids around like pokémon cards trying to get a shiny chavizard (or at least a kid who's not as bad as the one they lost).

A shiny chavizard. That's the most brilliant thing I've read all day.

    Public school checking in.
Was offered private schooling but wanted to go with all my mates.

We once had a guy flip a table and storm out of the class and come back with a crow-bar.
But he was fucking nuts and had been expelled from like 5 schools prior (In Victoria, not sure about the rest of au, if a kid gets expelled from another school in the area, one of the other schools has to take them)
And we had a heroin dealer.

But over all it was p good tbh.
Nothing like some of the shit in here.

Your posting is medium, its not rare and its not well done

It's always nice to hear some of the nicknames other schools have given the kids who get transfered around, we've had "slasher" and "bitey" recently.

Be sure to factor at least 1k for school uniform (seriously, private schools are like Hastler about dat shit), and a few k's for extravagant school trips (exchange, skiing, etc). My sister got a scholarship thingumy but just paying for the extras nearly bankrupted my mum.
I'm not a girl, and I don't know what a "Mendolorian" is.. I think it might be a self healing car that travels through time.

I was in a school about to take receipt of a charming young gentleman called "Sawn-Off".

      Spoiler:
    He was a midget
