My dad calls the home network deep thought.

I have to to a double take to make sure I read it right every time I see it.

Your posting is medium, its not rare and its not well done

Used to use computers from history and fiction, e.g. HAL 9000, COLOSSUS, although I was so in awe of my Antec 300 case when it arrived, that one became "Monolith". Now I just tend to use model number and owner name.

To many years of having to deal with other peoples 'Goofy' naming conventions at work, "what pc are you using sam" "ohh Lucysnewpc" wtf whyyy. So yea boring names, and on every network that I get my hands on or device if I am not the network manager! Jack boots right here tyvm.

Gaming computer: fred2 (the original fred lasted through 10 years of incremental upgrades)
    Other computer: bob
    Home theater computer: HTPC
web/dns/dhcp/ebook server: frankenstein (It's a D800 laptop rebuilt using parts from 7 other D800s that were getting thrown away at work)
Laptop: I change the name based on what network I'm using it on. (e.g. college library has a lot of "DELL-<service tag>, so laptop also becomes DELL-<random numbers and letters>")

My wireless network is named with my last name, I consider that fair warning to the neighbors against messing with it.
