Because the definition of a profanity in-game is different from a profanity on the forums. I know this because I once petitioned the name of a station that contained a word that was censored on the forums, and got given that very answer.

A guy posted a ridiculous tinfoil thread about the CSM, and actually listed CSM 6 with Mittani as chair as the current CSM.

I informed him that he was "fucking clueless and should be permabanned from posting on the internets", which resulted in a 14-day ban by Spitfire with the reason "personal insults". I got what I deserved, I was on a serious shitposting binge, but the randomness is pretty bad.

Their main problem is that they let this shit go on for years and years - once it's deemed acceptable to use language and words you'd never consider using in RL situations it gets ingrained into the community. Once that happens it's hell to get people to stop. Should have stamped out this when it started, they wouldn't have this problem now.
