    that's ridiculous...
the lore should say that the guys came back in SCs and destroyed the station to make them understand who is the demigod...

What?... As long as I've been playing the cloning tech has meant that capsuleers are only risking losing the memory since their last clone.

There are enough spare supers running around that this wouldn't really be a roadblock.

You're confusing immortal with invincible. Capsuleers are immortal, not invincible. Their tech is almost-invincible in it's ability to replace them with a fresh copy.
The guards are lazy and understand there are rarely consequences for podding the innocent genocidal, domineering dbags.

Regardless of what the chronicles and backstory say, if it makes for interesting gameplay, I'm all for an actual Incarna to be like that preview.

at least they're actually making sure there's something to do before spending 5-6 years and 75% of the company's resources building something completely useless this time.
It get me oh so full of joy to see CCP Lead Game Designer learning the basics. I only wonder why he was not axed with Hammerhead and all the other members of the "dream aloud, produce nothing, head the company toward the wall at full speed" crew. He's Hillmar stepbrother?

Yes. It advanced clone tech to make dust mercs possible. If you make eve pilot immortal outside of the pod too then you remove any RP reason that a character can't be both an eve pilot and a dust merc. Okay, that might happen once/if dust comes to PC but....

I haven't read the background material for awhile, so I could be way off, but I thought the disadvantage of DUST tech was limitations on how up to date the clone's memories would be. If that's the case, the capsuleer maintains the advantage of real time awareness all the way up to the moments before being podded, while the DUST guy has to undergo constant clone renewal to prevent them from becoming dangerously out of date. At the very least, I hope this remains the case. I have always liked the idea of capsuleer immortality being more special than any other technology available, with other methods being pale imitations or hideously inconvenient. What remains to be seen is if CCP will do something more interesting with the capsuleer concept than adding full blown, out of pod immortality via a heavy dose of hand wave and ret-con.

Nope. Dust merc tech RP transfers consciousness at the moment of death.

Pretty sure it had a (short) range.

More importantly, besides the range problem, it is only possible by ripping the implants out of still-living Sleepers, and plugging them into the troops. This is somewhat overcome by copying the implants and manufacturing them from scratch, but the raw material still needs to come from w-space. . .
