In terms of obviously flawed game design, this is the equivalent the inventory fuck up tbh. I want to know what processes will be put in place to ensure neither happen again.
Countries do not exist where I am from. The discovery of the Higgs boson led to limitless power, the elimination of poverty and Kit-Kats for everyone. It is a communist chocolate hellhole and I'm here to stop it ever happening.

None... Except perhaps more instrumentation of data that really should always be projected onto a wall at CCP HQ, in the lobby and all entrances that Devs might use to enter the building, just so that they can look, see, and oh fuck, why is that graph in the corner suddenly spiking that's not possible ffs.

In any case, these kinds of things inevitably get caught, perpetrators get punished (unless goon) and shit get nuked.

They didn't notice there was more Ferrogel in the game than was ever possible for several years. Why would you have any faith in CCP having any clue wtf they are doing?

Also pretty sure some of the Germans reported that when they first noticed the bug and CCP still ignored it.

You'd need a shitload of screens considering how much data ccp has to keep track of

You actually only need to have the main indicators tracked.

E.g. if total amount of LP paid was monitored, even if it included mission LP there would have been a rather weird 'bump' that should have made any reasonably curious dev say... hey... what is that?

    What you're describing isn't an dev's job, it's an analyst's.

I have a feeling that while a large blip for FW LP, this whole thing was a minor bump if you looked at a graph with all LP on it.

this, once I read up on the system I figured out four different ways to abuse it on top of this one, none of them involve infinite returns but any one could really fuck up the market.

Yes, only an analyst can be allowed to look at Data, mere programmers could only shoot themselves in their collective feet if they were to get too close to Data.

isn't that what the graph shows?
To illustrate the impact graphically, this is a nice little picture showing LP earned thus far in 2012 CCP Stilman calls "LP Made in total ever" because he doesn't believe in life before February 2012.
no indication that the graph only shows FW LP.

Considering you could make millions of fw lp daily in fw even before this, I doubt it :3

Essentially they need to program a redflag for anything from items to ore to nic to characters that shows a change outside standard correlation.

Would have prevented a lot of exploits and give them a better view on economic.

I too, have my wiring done by a plumber.

fake-edit: i thought this was something their economist was supposed to be monitoring, if not that, what does he do all day? (or is it a contractual thing)
