I bet it will be laggy and shitty just like all the Android tablets that I've tried. I have yet to find anything as smooth as the Ipad. and I hate Apple.

You should really try custom roms/kernels one day. That's what android is about after all.

Google have re-written a large chunk of the UI layer in Jelly Bean so that everything runs vsync'd at 60Hz. That plus the T3 quad core processor should make the N7 pretty damn smooth and snappy.

Initial reviews are positive enough in that area that I'm actually reconsidering and may just buy one of these if I can find a way to make it see files on my Dell Streak over WiFi, which would nicely solve the N7's lack of 3G and storage (the streak has two 32GB microSD cards in it, gotta love phones designed by PC manufacturers).

I agree this has been a problem. You should check out the preview vids though, 4.1 is specifically targetted at this, and according to the sites I've read (anandtech for instance) it is working good.

This in its self is not an issue for me, except that to get access to this while im out and about, I would need an internet connection, which I can get through my phone. The issue with that is perth is just not really setup to work like this. Internet data off mobiles is still very expensive (ok, $5 for a gig for me), slow (only telstra has 4G, and they are even more expensive) and drops out quite a lot (i have 2 major dead spots on the train on the way home, and I only live 30 mins from the exact middle of town, assuming its not peak hour).
I do get a feeling the Nexus 7 was designed by guys who are on the end of a GBit fibre connection at the office and have LTE data outside that the company pays for, and thus aren't really in touch with what it's like in the rest of the world (particularly the part outside the US) where fixed broadband is often slow and has crippling bandwidth caps, and mobile data costs are measured in testicles per GB.
Yeah, it'll suck on my 100/10 line at home. =/ No but really, I thought the rest of the world was catching up?

    :TpTlk:
    Coming soon(tm).

Catching up, yes. But slowly, and progress is very patchy. Things are better here in the UK than in may other countries, but still a bit third world in places. I regularly have to deal with clients (mostly small-ish businesses) who've seen all the ads for 'superfast' broadband and 3G, read all about fibre and 4G and are not at all pleased when I break it to them that the reality is they'll have to get by with a creaky DSL line that'll manage 2Mbit down and maybe 400kbit up on a good day. Or a marginal 3G link that'll drop out when it rains and be slower than the DSL anyway. And will cost them 10p/meg if they go over the not very generous download cap.

    Did make me lol.

Jelly bean is the big break through. Just about any manufacturer can make good quality hardware when they aren't too worried about profits (this is a low profit device paid for by Google to kill the 7" iPad before it'd even announced) but they are all stuck with Google's OS, which has been badly optimized up till now. (its not been terrible, just ios has been great)

Fail on my part, was talking to a colleague about his Samsung SIII at the same time.
Must say though, I've had great experiences with ASUS PC hardware, but hated their tabs. This time they did it right, Jelly Bean is a big part of that, but the build quality feels better than the transformers too.
