    Protective/sparring gear for self defense

    I guess someone on FHC might be into this sort of thing, so I`ll try here.

    I`m trying to find a leg/shin/ankle protection for my training needs.

    I've looked around and all I find is shin/leg protectors that cover the front, but offers no protection on the sides of the ankle.
    Is there even anything like what I`m looking for out there?

    It doesn't matter if it a little bulky as it's not for sparring, but more repetitive use. Putting more power into the specific technique's.

    You kick with your shin, not your ankle. What technique needs ankle protection?

    I know.

    But it`s the counter for the kick that we need protection from. We would like to be able to put more force into the technique and do it with higher intensity. But doing it, we quickly start moving towards a serious injury.

    Look at hockey (real hockey, not ice) greaves. They wrap around the calves and ankles and you can shape them with a hair dryer/heat gun and a little brute force and ignorance.

    What about soccer protection gear? You can get those half-shin guards that are supposed to be worn under the long socks I think.

    I had a pair once, and it also offered limited ankle protection, including a plastic disc positioned over the weak spot.

    i use them in 7/11 aside, they cover most of the shin and the sides, then have little overlaps for the ankle (they sort of fit into/slightly over the groove in your boots for your ankles. very good as a defender
