    Krater

Kinda surprised there is no thread on this yet. Impulse bought this yesterday on steam while bored, mini review after 5 hours played:

Krater is a post-apocalyptic tactical arpg set in the impact zone of a nuke in Sweden, it feels like a mix of DoW2, Cannon Fodder, Diablo and a little World of Warcraft raiding.
Game still needs a lot of polishing but the core looks quite good, you are commanding a 3 man freelancer squad. Each squad member has 2 skills and a distinct role, you can hire more guys and different classes through out the game. There is death penalty even on the easiest difficulty in the form of permanent injuries (= - random stats) when a member gets downed, 3 permanent injuries and that guy is out if you don't play on easy. A wipe means you are back to town with reset of the dungeon.
There is crafting in the form of implants and boosters you can attach to your body and specific skills, random maps and loot and all that jazz you expect from a arpg.

Only single player atm, seemless coop patch is scheduled for 10th of july.

    Pros:

    - quite unique take on tactical arpg
    - fighting controls are fluid and fun
    - music is really good

    Cons:

    - still rough around the edges
    - looting and ui in general are pretty tedious
    - some of the worst font choices ever

Final verdict: for 14 bucks this is a steal, could get a gem when polished.

I saw this, keep nearly buying it, looks like a ton of fun. I'm going to wait until coop is added, then may well pick it up.

No mandatory connection to an online service: For those who rather stay clear of online gaming and enjoy playing through the campaign in offline mode there is a fully supported single player offline mode.
Heh. Nice little dig at Blizzard there.

this looks pretty cool. anyone taken the plunge and played it yet?

think it's only £12 on steam, worth a punt.

    Pirated it for testing purpose:

    Pros:
    - those graphics....... wow.
    - interesting setting, not your generic post apocalyptic american wasteland
    - exploration of the worldmap almost feels like an old final fantasy, with random encounters and shit

    cons:
    - characters can't be customized much, you can only change weapons, implants and some attribute enhancers
    - once you have a working setup and tactics, combat gets way too easy
    - not enough loot for this kind of game
    - useless drops that serve no purpose other than being sold at the merchant and can't even be used for crafting

Uninstalled for now, the devs said there would be frequent updates, so i'll keep an eye on it to see if it gets better.
