Well, as someone who doesnt know the source, 2 episodes in and i still dont know what makes our main dude so special. Or what motivates him. I was honestly expecting him making good of his threat to just go back into storage and not care.

As far as i can tell hes like a Deckard/Sherlock Holmes hybrid?

Dunno, maybe it got lost in the shitty sound quality i was stuck with :P

Haven't watched the series, but in the source material
      Spoiler:
he's an "envoy". That is a slightly euphemistic term for a kind of super soldier/spy whose training is less physical, because the body gets exchanged often (and definitely when they get cast to a new planet, considering they can't take their bodies along), and more psychological - both conditioning of their own psyche and training in the manipulation of others. Supposedly, this training is so powerful that ex-envoys are banned from running for a political office.

Among envoys, he is fairly competent but not really something special, except for his morality - he is one of very few envoys gone criminal/mercenary. Basically, if you want a good independent investigator, you want an envoy, but that particular market is fairly empty.

That's not true, the last bit. Actually quite the opposite. :P

I'm at episode 8 and I like it even more than since episode 1.

I should read the books again see if there's actually a backstory to the stacks because I forgot.

It's funny, it took a sharp dive for me with the bullshit flashback ep. and the ending was a mess that didn't need changing for the soppy and shit. But then maybe i'm just bitter they cut one of my favourite characters for that nonsense.

    Still liked it, but ehh.

Having finished it myself now I have to agree the ending could've been better but fml I can't remember how the book ended now so I'll start re reading it now

Overall 9/10 for me, really nice and compelling watch and I feel it did justice to the AC universe overall. It did appear to lose some steam on the way but overall not bad at all.

Cyberpunk and cliche is a tautology. Its just a vessel for the actual plot.

I find it funny tho that my favourite character is the AI house.

the actual plot is also pretty bad

mark anthony and the lead are doing okay but everybody else is too camp and cheesy

I did kinda get a SyFy vibe at times... but still, wouldnt go quite as far as calling it bad. Just, as you said, lots of camp.
