98% rotten tomatos, 57% google users liked the show. What gives with the discrepancy?

RT critic reviews tend to be only on the first few episodes (or whatever the studio gives critics early), if it's released weekly, so over time the user reviews incorporate scores for the rest of the show and that often drives the average down.

But also, people are stupid, both professional critics and average watchers.

Started watching it, on episode 4. It really is stellar, but Jesus Christ I'm not sure I was ready for it. Not with having to go to a funeral for a relative next coming friday...

Depressing story. Even more because it was filmed starting January 2020.

I've start watching The Terminal List, Chris Pratt is showing his acting skills a bit more in this than in Marvel movies.

I thought the 1st half of station eleven was really good, but the second half was weak.

Second half isn't as powerful as the first half, but that's mostly because the first half is really hard to follow up. It still neatly ties everything together in a very satisfying way imho, and still has some very nice surprises to offer.

Probably also because it's a bit arty-farty, which usually does well on RT?

It gets a bit too repetitive for my liking.

idk looks like he got stashed away for season 5

he sure did a great job - dude just oozes charisma and i felt his character got dealt a bad hand
sure he can be a macho american closet nazi from the fourties but he could have done some stuff in his life apart from being an asshole unlike homelander whose assholeness is well set up

also temp V is a bag of bullshit with how butcher immediately rises to power level 9000 for the final fight like he was doing it the whole life while maeve was training for months on top of permanent Vness

Sandman is out, just watched the episode adapting the (in)famous diner story. Then went back and compared it to the comic.

There are some changes here and there. The guy isnt as overtly insane as in the comic. The necrophilia was a bit too much for streaming TV. But other than that, it's a surprisingly faithful adaptation. Lots of panels are copied line by line.

Overall it's pretty great, I didnt believe they would have the balls or ability to carry over the weirdness but they pulled it off. The only thing that kinda bugged me is that I imagined Lucifer to be impossibly handsome, not an androgynous Gwendoline Christie (no offense meant to her).

You didn't imagine anything, he was presented as exactly that. If they wanted to go with something uncomfortably appealing to both genders they should have gone with something along those lines:

Sandman was great, but I found the episodes to be very uneven. Some was so very good, while others was plain dull.

Don't know if it was intentional, but some CGI looked incredibly. While in some scenes/locations looked cartoony/cheap.
Why is it called earth, when it is mostly water???

I am just watching the first ep of The Boys, because , hype etc.
Is so far I don't like it at all and feel a bit alone with that opinion.

What do you people here like about the show?

It's a treasure, satire at its finest. Not seen the likes of this since Paul Verhoven glorydays.

IMHO one of the best villains in recent history, which I loved to hate with a passion and therefore admire its actor's capabilities to make me feel so. Also: it keeps its pace and quality through all 3 seasons. Which wasn't the case in my eyes with Umbrella Academy and Doom Patrol. Especially with the last one I struggle to finish it. With just 10 episodes, I'm halfway into episode 9 and I still wait for it to kinda properly start.

You have missed some key points to these movies.
Both Robocop and Starship Troopers are political satire. And also criticizing society (which Total Recall totally does).

What do you mean criticizing? Starship Troopers is about young, beautiful people fighting for the good of motherland. It's what every young russian has in his heart. You take that back or glorious leader will send him

    to denazify your sweden too.
