    Dirty Money, 10/10.

Binged watched the AC. Enjoyed it, but I felt like the ending was a bit weaker than I expected it to be.

I'm assuming that's the first season, of how many?

Still haven't watched the series, but there are 3 novels of source material.

They share a setting and a main character and thus are a series, but if you take away the "scifi/cyberpunk" tag, they are all different genres.

    Ooh that looks like fun.

Started watching Altered Carbon. Reluctantly. First episode triggered me several times with some mistakes but it's fun enough to keep me watching. Given the dearth of good sci fi out there I'll happily take it.

It's fun to speculate on what they're inspired by in creating the world and characters. Obvious cyberpunk influences are obvious, but I can't help but think of vampire the masquerade when I see the Methuselahs fighting to the death for fun, being bored and pinning mortals against each other and whatnot.

AC is shockingly close to the book, the hotel was exactly how I pictured it in my head. XD

Really enjoyed it, like how they left the actor choice open for s2

I am super pleased with this show. They did such a good job with the material from the books.

Except the last third where they just messed it up completely for some soppy family drama.

First two thirds were great though.

I really enjoyed it too, particularly the production values.

So Season 2 is basically robots behaving badly? I expected more, but we'll see how it turns out.

One thing that has annoyed me in AC (and it happens in a lot of other sci-fi) was the sudden stop in all research and tech progress.
He's been "off-line" for 250 years and basically nothing has changed...

Other than that the show was good.

Cant stop my hypetrain. Theyd have to pull a True Detective to really mess it up.

Its part of the story. Humanity has stagnated since reaching functional immortality, because for the rich and powerful there is nothing left except indulging in hedonism. Remember the Hopkins monologue in Westworld? "This is as good as we will get", because the drive (at least for the ones in charge) to better mankind is gone.

Altered Carbon was great. A good mix of a bright future, but on the ground it was very dark and distopyen.

AC was decent, but not great, the story could have used more foreshadowing building the things up with discoveries instead of leaving all that in the very last episodes.

I think you missed the foreshadowing and build up.

There was plenty of good world building but the story was lacking and in the end magical rabbits were pulled from hats in quite unsatisfactory ending.

what did you want to happen, they left it open for a second series while tying up the story
