Gonna do it this august. We elope for a 4 day weekend. No guests, no big event, no priests. After all it's about the wife and I. If someone gets upset that we didn't throw a grand old feast, they can fuck off and get married the way they like it.

To answer your question though, I'd say knowledge of history helps you not repeat the mistakes of your ancestors, knowledge of science helps you function in a modern world dominated by technology (DevilDude is from the Silicon Valley after all :P). In my post I mentioned current events/politics, which I think are pretty important to being a functional voter in any democracy. Basically knowledge of things that have significant effects on our world is what I consider important (or "value" Keiiko puts it).

Heh. The obsession with celebrity is nothing new, we just have more ways of scratching that particular itch nowadays.

The most obvious value is that of social lubrication. Gives you something easy to connect with others with. Obviously overobession is unhealthy, as with any other pastime. But given time spent on pastimes is generally of little socially macroscopic practical value (and your interest in science and history does have little absolute value in that way unless you're planning on being an influential politician or inventor). But it is interesting to you, and allows you to create connections with the people you meet and stimulate yourself intellectually (which not everyone wants to do).

I could easily say that those who never physically stimulate themselves via normal sports or extreme sports are not using their bodies to their full capacity and are useless wastes of carbon for not doing so - neglecting a core component of our existence is missing out on transcendent experiences. I'd be wrong, even though I do think it a little bit

I'm not sure but I think we're completely agreeing on this. I don't see any difference between what you said and what I was trying to say.
I was taking issue more with the root of the thinking that results in

100% agreed. Being attractive doesn't condemn you to stupidity, but it's pretty well known that it hurts your incentive to be an interesting person in less superficial ways.
This is where I got the impression you're ascribing things to attractiveness that shouldn't be. I could be wrong

You lucky bastard. Good luck m8.
Thanks. The good bad news is that there's also another around - in my normal state of indifference towards relationships I'd go after both, letting them know it's not serious and let fun times be had. Now there's an (admittedly remote) chance of one I feel as though I might have to focus on one. Eventually. Perhaps.

Not at all! I just think some have more weight/significance on the world. I don't judge my friends for not liking the same sports/music/hobbies as I do (although they have a bad habit of judging me/each other). Although I will admit to judging people above the voting age of 18 who are extremely ignorant on what they're voting for/on/about.
Heh. I do that as well, though it's only superficially more reasonable than voting based on your like/dislike of a certain representative (assuming representative rather than direct democracy).

    so let's recap:

    - sacul is left babysitting the kid of the redhead he is using as some sort of rebound from the love of a lifetime

    somehow it's gotten worse.

    - sacul got the redhead pregnant?
    - sacul got the love of his life, who he broke up with, pregnant?
    - sacul raped the redhead's child?
    - sacul is having sex with another woman on the side?
    - sacul has done all of the above?

      Spoiler:
a large faecal log spread out on the oversized scrotum of a domestic pig

I'm guessing it's just 'Redhead says (or has made it plain) she's in love with Sacul, Sacul was just in it for the shagging. Sacul is trying to figure out how to run away without being a dick.'

Extra points if Sacul is now the only male role model in the kid's life.

We all know that would end up with sacul shagging his shrink. While possibly also shagging his new shrink at the side!

In any case, sacul, don't feel too bad, it really is a pretty difficult situation. Not that you're not responsible for it 100% :V

I fully admitt i would fuck the living shit out of my current shrink if it werent for the fact that i am able to keep a professional and personal relationship seperated (if i choose so). In this case we spend so many hours trying to figure out and grasp my condition i really dont feel like starting from half-way again with somebody else.
The complicated factor is that we also have mutual friends, i found out on facebook looking at a female friends page and suddenly seeing my shrinks name in her friends list. Its the reason i skipped the friends b'day bash 2 months ago. If she is no longer my shrink and we meet....dohohohoho

I nor she knows what she will do come october but i am however fully ready to follow her to another practice. Maybe it will come to that maybe not.

I feel a hypo coming hmmmmm

    Well that's a pickle isn't it?

The more the kid gets involved the harder it's going to be unless you're really prepared to be a father figure. If I were you I'd make my choice now or risk damaging the kid, this is an important stage of his life and it's only responsible to be thinking of him. On the other tentacle he does need a father figure, does the redhead have anyone lined up for a long-term relationship?

Yeah that is indeed the dilemma i am having. Its a 2 y/o girl and the father is out of the picture. She, the mother, hasnt had a single relationship since the birth. This comes from the shitty relationship she had with the father. So the only male role models the kid has is her grandfather and a few uncles.
Most likely its the reason the little is clinging to me so much. Dont get me wrong i like kids and wouldnt mind one or a few of my own but i also know being bi-polair there is a biiiig chance of me fucking up fatherhood. In any case i am great with the kid like i am with all little ones, except babies i only like kids when they can talk back and do their funny shit.

Here we are, i have peace of mind and i have a dilemma.

I know i put myself in these situations and i dont mind at all but now a 2 y/o is involved :lesigh:

Easier said than done mate, especially when it's eve.
+1'ing this. Besides, 99% of the time, you can tell how receptive someone is to internet spaceship type stuff as soon as you mention it just by reading body language. It's rare enough for me to meet an attractive girl that's interested in current events, not to mention tolerates internet spaceships or a pixelated world made of blocks.
And yet believe it or not you'll be happier alone than trying to make something work with someone who actively dislikes stuff that gets you going.

Chances are it's not just eve, its that she has a poor outlook of the basic elements of somethign you like, and that will extend to clubs you join, sports, books, thing one does for fun when drunk, etc.
    Erm. No.

Gaming is a small part of my life. A part that only very tangentially connects to the other things I find interesting. Her interest or disinterest or ambivalence to it has almost no bearing on her suitability as my partner.
