Damn this thread. Doing my usual forum lurking stumbled across this, £15 later my Warlock has moved servers.

Pandaria is going live on 25th September. However Blizz stated that they are going to have an "escalation" event patch 2 weeks beforehand where Theramore gets twatted by the Horde.
9/11 THERAMORE NEVAR FORGET
Wonder when 5.0 will go live so I can try out the talent tree's.
Release date is definitely right. Not sure about the other bit.
no trolling theramore is gone gets completely roflstomped by the horde and initial feedback was that the night elves get shafted again with horde fleets sitting of Darkshore which sounds fairly drastic for any small remaining presence that they have on Kalimdor other than their capital. All this seemingly is supposed to pave the way for Tyrande to become this expacs saviour at least for the alliance anyway although that may have changed I jumped into the beta way back not long after beta invites for annual pass people got sent out and only played around a little with it haven't really kept up to date.

Guild is still going request to join the subforum if you want to join/discuss with fellow FHC'ers.
Otherwise I'm guessing this thread will be mostly for MoP discussion.

Not terribly surprising. Two mediocre and too short raid tiers for over two thirds of the expansion, Diablo 3, MoP beta going on forever, the game being almost eight years old, what could go wrong.
Then again they say most of the losses are from the "East", and we all know Blizztards have been using WoW China to bloat their numbers for a while - why Chinese players stop playing, who knows really, I don't even know what patch/expansion they have atm and what other games are popular over there.
They might have been better off not to include their PRC non-subscriptions, would have saved them from these "huge" losses in the past two years, but also would have meant not being able to claim 12 million players at the end of WotLK.

It is the same as end Wrath. The time between last raid tier -> next xpac is just too long especially given how easy it is to complete said raid content. When mists of pandaria releases there will no doubt be a spike in subscribers leading to a smaller fall slightly after, then a steadily growing subscriber number untill the final raid tier where it drops off again and the cycle continues.
Funniest thing is the article saying "omg, TOR is going F2P, can WoW keep up?!?" as if the F2P move was anything other than a last ditch effort.
Also afaik easter players pay game time by hour or something like that, so for them its much easier to stop playing.
End of ICC was 3-4 months longer than Durgen Sole as well, and god knows how many people would leave if they had to deal with another 1/4 year of this crappy raid.
It's not the same really. WotLK had roughly one year of ICC (Dragon Soul will last "only" about 10 months), but WotLK had two things going for it, ICC was a vastly superior raid (more bosses, better encounters) and they added another raid with three minibosses and one boss about halfway through it. Although it was technically worse (longer time to new expansion), in reality it was actually noticeably better.
I love the morons in an MMO-Champion (I know, I know...) thread going all "see Blizzard, this is what you get for making WoW accessible".
Have to say though I was absolutely delighted when they announced the feats of strength for clearing heroic modes with no raid wide buffs. Its finally a bit of reward or something for people to work towards, the feeling of achievment when you do them is something that is just completely decimated by staged nerfs. Finally there is a reason for people later in the patch to just say fuck it turn the buffs off lets do this properly. Really liking this new elite band of items from the last boss also as it looks as if there will be some kind of activated hard mode a bit like ulduar, here's hoping its another Firefighter (#1 best hardmode eva hands down).
