    Epic night!

Had tapas out in the street at some restaurant, with the match on a big telly. Fucking amazing atmosphere during the whole match!

Spain is fucking crazy tonight!!! Flags, fireworks, old people, young people, just crazy!

So I think I watched all bar three games of this tournament. Overall I think it was a pretty entertaining competition. I'm glad Spain won the final convincingly and in an entertaining fashion as another 1-0 win would have diminished their achievement.

    Underachieving team: Holland
    Overachieving team: Italy
Surprise results: Denmark 1-0 Holland, Ukraine 2-1 Sweden
Player of the tournament: Andrea Pirlo
Most disappointing player: Robin Van Persie

Will Spain still have it in 2014 in Brazil?

No reason they can't compete for a second World Cup. Of the current side I think only Xavi will be in doubt due to age, but his role isn't one that really relies on pace so he could conceivably still be around pulling the strings in midfield and if not then they could always play Cesc Fabregas and a striker at the same time!

European teams have never won a South American World Cup, and I would expect that the conditions there will have an effect in 2014 as well.

The winners will therefore be either Brazil, Argentina or Uruguay.

I also expect to see the likes of Gerrard and Parker on the verge of collapse after the first ten minutes of every match.

I got off the train in Benicassim two years ago to see the last half of the world cup final at the first bar we came to. That was pretty epic.

yeah the spaniards deserved a victory yesterday and the italians were a bit unlucky with injuries.. but even without those I doubt it would've changed all too much. They just lack a good nr 10.

The last South American World Cup was in 1978; Mexico had it in 86 but thats Latin America not South. I think its difficult to draw any conclusions about this sort of thing from that long ago, the way athletes prepare and train has changed alot since then. I don't think the temperature will be as big a factor as you think given its going to be the coldest time of the year in the Southern Hemisphere; a bigger factor is going to be whether the teams games are in the more northern host cities or southern ones.
