As a Scot I really dislike Pirlo for purely footballing reasons but I have to accept that the guy is, to use an English vernacular, pure class.

My disappointment in England not beating the Italians though will be mitigated by the tears of English people crying 'we're just not good enough' while a few of the more retarded ones struggle somehow to blame Roy Hodgson.

Disliking Pirlo for purely footballing reasons doesn't make any sense to me. The guy is great, he was the focus point of their entire team, he was superb

Meanwhile England did better in the tournament than most of the pundits were expecting, and there is some cause for optimism for the future if Wilshere gets himself fit, Hart continues to develop and someone kneecaps Rooney.

Was an honest question just couldn't remember Italy knocking Scotland out of a World Cup, but you obviously cleared that up as it was qualifying for a EC

Good game there England, that was a very watchable match. At parts I didn't know who I'd expect to score next and the penalties weren't boring either.

Kind of glad we don't have to face Germany again and I think the Italians are going to get slaughtered on Thursday 3-0 I reckon.

Oddly enough, directly after the match German TV showed goals from the last few years Germany vs. Italy in Euros and World Cups.

Edit: May need to rephrase that for accuracy: Germany didn't win a SINGLE one of them (some were ties)

Italy has one of the best records against Germany, they have never lost in either the Euro or World Cups against them. They had a 1-1 tie in the 88Euro. Italy beat West Germany in the 70 WCup semi-finals in OT4-3, the 82 final 3-1, & against reunited Germany in the 06Wcup semi-final in OT 2-0. They also had two scoreless ties in the 62 & &78 WCups. Germany has only won some friendlies.

People are over-optimistic over England's future, your defenders are pretty old and the new ones aren't that good. Andy Caroll is great and they need to build a team around him. Also LEARN TO PASS and KEEEP THE BALL. Wilshere won't be enough for the whole team.
