Advertisement and special events

As discussed in this thread, we are now renting out some space on the forum for Eve and/or FHC-related advertisement.



- The first area costs 500m/week and has to be an image no wider than 400 pixels and no higher than 200 pixels. You can ask for it to redirect people to a Eve/FHC-related website when clicked. The "FAILHEAP CHALLENGE" part of the banner will still redirect to the Board Index a brief message related to your ad will also be tweeted by @failheap every now and then, this is a bonus so no whining. If you purchase a full month the price will be 500m a week instead.

- The second area costs 250m/week and will contain a 450 pixel wide by 35 pixel high banner,it will also contain a line of text. It can be a link to a Eve/FHC-related website when clicked if you want, your link/add will also be randomly posted on twitter on #tweetfleet and #eveonline whenever EntroX remembers to do so, this is a bonus but it should be done every now and then. If you purchase a full month the price will be 200m a week instead.

The rules:

- Eve or FHC-related
- If it's just terrible and not funny nor interesting/relevant in any way, we're just gonna reject it.
- No animated GIF's or Flash.

As EntroX said in that other thread, we're doing this because we believe that giving out lots of free stuff and organizing events is worth the small sacrifice of adding 1 or 2 (probably funny) ads. There's a thread in General chat to discuss (smack) the ads, btw. We can stop doing that at anytime if it turns out to be a bad idea, we're just experimenting right now.

About the isk we get from advertising:

100% of the isk will be donated to the FHC community in some way. You can see the holding character's wallet here.

Stuff we're planning to do:
- Scavenger hunts (I'll be making one during in a few days, 1b reward, keep an eye on it)
- Giving out free ships. We're going to be doing one of those every week or 2. It's a free to enter lottery and the winner gets a free PLEX/Vagabond/carrier/whatever.
- Maybe buy free ships for Gank Nights, but it's a lot of organization, so we're probably just gonna stick to giving free stuff away.

If the two logos at the top are going to redirect to different pages, would it be possible to move them apart a bit more then? I'm fairly sure I'm going to be clicking the wrong area quite a lot, and then being terrifically confused when I end up at some website that I know absolutely nothing about.

Sounds a good idea, and personally i wouldn't mind if you used some eve-o 14 day trial links or Shattered Chrystal banners to raise some funds if you needed extra funds at some stage for hosting? (adwords can get a bit spammy though?) only slight problem i can see if how trust worthy are the sites you could be linking to? In as far as safety when it comes to having keyloggers ect dropped onto your rig? (already running adblock/no script)

If hosting ever becomes a problem we can do that, yeah, but for now it's absolutly free to host FHC.

We're just doing this "ad for isk" thing because it's an easy way to fund events.
