The move would outlaw sales drinks of 473 ml (16 oz) and over in restaurants, cinemas, stadiums and arenas.
Cups over that size at self-service fountains would also disappear, although refills will still be allowed and customers would not be prevented from buying more than one drink at a time of a medium size or lower.
The ban would apply to any drink that contains more than 25 calories per 235 ml (8 ounces), and less than 51% milk or milk substitute by volume as an ingredient, meaning Americans’ beloved milk shakes would be given a reprieve.
Yeah you're right, leaving people to die because they can't afford healthcare is definitely worth it to ensure you can continue to guzzle coca-cola in 2l cups.

[WAT] Male pornstar mails dismembered body parts to political parties.

Warning: horrible story ahead. I'm just reposting from news websites.

Ok so this gentleman, Luka Rocco Magnotta:

This male pornstar posted a video on the internet of him killing a man with an icepick, then eating some of it while performing "morbid sexual acts" on it, then chopped it in multiple parts. The video was posted on a gore website and some viewers recognized Magnotta.

Fast forward to 2 days ago, Montreal police finds a torso in a suitcase in the garbage and yesterday a mailed foot is found at the Conservative party offices. A couple hours later, a severand hand sent to the Liberal party is intercepted by Canada Post. Apparently more gruesome details are to be revealed and the only comments made by the police were "It seems like we're dealing with one hell of a sick motherfucker" (approximate translation, but the police spokeperson cursed). The guy had been living in this city for 4 months, has family in Ontario and "was in a relationship with the victim". He apparently had connections with Karla Homolka (one of Canada's worst criminals, with her husband, she killed, raped and tortured a few young girls) and regularly posted videos online of himself raping and torturing kittens.

Apparently, Reddit (and IRC) told me the video of the murder is worse than "dnepropetrovsk" (3 guys one hammer) where 3 teenagers murder and torture homeless people. I've never understood why anyone would want to watch shit like that, but I guess if you like it you'll probably be happy to have found a new gem. According to CBC the gore website admins said it was the most horrible video they've ever seen.
The police says he's probably already out of the country.

This kind of stuff happening here is worth a:
    WHAT. THE. FUCKING. FUCK.
    http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montre...g-suspect.html

Edit: This is the 11th murder of the year, what we lack in quantity, we make up in quality~

CLEARLY the only alternative to government mandated healthcare is nobody can afford it and we all die. Also, we buy coke in 8ounce glass bottles (and share them once or twice a week). So in each instance your post either contains a logical fallacy or misinformed facts. Who's the stupid poster here?

Has that not translated properly or something or does the news article actually say that?

You were insinuating that New York's proposed regulation of drinks was somehow a demonstration of why universal healthcare is bad, which is just a complete nonsense. Hence I poked fun at it with my exaggerated counter argument.

Also, the alternative to universal healthcare is not that no one can afford it and everyone dies, but it does mean some people can't afford it and die and in more civilised countries this is considered to be a bad thing.

    Don't they all?

    And 100 000 000 $ to do a few extra? Can't say I blame her.

I don't disagree. But, without going down this damned rabbit hole again, surely we are all smart enough to devise a way for those few to get insurance without forcing everyone to buy it and enabling / justifying stupid, unenforceable government rules/regulations/laws.

I don't really get the sense you read what I wrote closely enough:
once government is invested in your healthcare costs it has every fucking right to regulate anything it wants that's even only slightly related
Yesterday it was transfat, today is coca-cola, what'll it be tomorrow? Mandated sleep? Because everyone knows that sleeping too little or too much can increase your chances of being obese. Also, alcohol consumption is a prominent factor in obesity (not to mention domestic abuse and crime)....

Not really. It might sometimes be used as a justification by politicians to nanny every part of your life but at the end of the day it's a tenuous excuse. People living a long time is actually more costly to the state in the long-run than people being unhealthy and dying at 60 from a heart attack.

National healthcare works for the most part, it's just a number of powerful lobby groups in the US seem to have convinced you all it's bad. Very few people in countries with universal healthcare dislike it.

I love nationalised healthcare, when I break my leg the first thought in my head is "I should go to a hospital and get this fixed" rather than "Shit does my insurance cover this?" To me that's worth the extra tax. And many many other people think the same.
