Also, doing both on one weekend trip is pretty retarded IMHO. The Vyšehrad alone is worth half a day of visiting, as is the Karlsbridge and half a dozen other places in Prague.

As for Berlin, you can do a trip on the Spree - a 3-4h tour will give you a nice impression of many important places. IMHO the most noteworthy part of the city is the museum island - there are tons of exhibitions there, and you should find something that interests you. If you are into classical music at all, try to get tickets for any concert in the main hall of the Philharmonie, it does not have to be the resident orchestra. Everyone should experience the acoustics in there at least once. On the other hand, there are plenty of places to go clubbing, but I'm not really up to speed there.
    What's in Dresden?
For people who just stay for a few hours - lots of beautiful old or rebuilt buildings. The local kings spent a lot of time and effort on designing their city, and so did both the GDR and FRG.

With a bit more time you can start to explore the Elbe valley, the (also rather excellent, though pretty leftist/alternative) clubbing scene, some museums (Gallery of Modern Artists/"Galerie neue Meister" is fucking win, but when you are just coming from Berlin, you'll probably have fulfilled all your artsy needs if you had any to begin with), one of the best orchestras in the world (oh hey, you are just coming from Berlin, damn) etc.

I was speaking half in jest, especially as the time Stoffl has is barely enough for the two cities he is planning to visit. Dresden is beautiful, but there are few definite things it has to offer, especially if competing with a combination of Berlin and Prague.
Awesome advice thanks m8. So as I'll be in Prague and Berlin, would you recommend somewhere else between Brussels and Prague? Like Cologne our Frankfurt?

If you have some more time to spend in Berlin and do not suffer from claustrophibia, you could have a look at the underground sightseeing. They have tours to various bunkers, hidden tunnels, old subway stations, etc here: http://berliner-unterwelten.de/guided-tours.3.1.html

Also, from my experience there are a lot of nice but cheap shops, restaurants and coctail-bars in the eastern part (between Alexanderplatz and Prenzlauer Berg for example) while the western part of Berlin is more expensive and flooded with tourists. Check www.qype.com for reviews.

Heh just was in that hotel 2 weeks ago. Great city btw.
Loads of cool little taverns. I ended up on some absyntheria because we heard some great piano sound when walking by. Appeared to be some 80 year old guy playing and it was really nice - from the parts i can remember - damn absynthe!

    Confirming Blut is a guy.
You're like a fluffy gerbil sat on a naked woman's crotch, you might think you're looking cool, but everybody else thinks you're a cunt.

Biggest of Ups to our lovely hosts Mr. & Mrs. Blutreiter, they are pretty cool guys and don't afraid of random internet strangers.
    Seriously, much obliged.

I gotta say, it's almost boring without guests.

Teh fuck, why did I just now see that thread? I was in Berlin Wednesday evening through Friday for my sister's birthday. At the same time Soundgarden played at the Zitadelle. Yeah, Berlin is awesome, I love that city, Dresden as well. My extended family lives there and around the area. My hometown is half way between both with decent train connection, bored evenings sometimes ended with "Berlin or Dresden?" If anyone wants a tour through Dresden, I can usually head there on short-ish notice and give a decent tour of the sights.

I do need to go to Prague at one point.
