0 Damage pens have been sooooo bad since 7.4 went live.
Like really noticeably bad, it is starting to get me down.
Although the funny thing is I have done damage to every German/French/US tank I have shot it has only been when I shoot russian tanks I can't do any damage. Just every hit has been 8 damage pen :\
I have had a couple of assaults yesterday, three of which were defending on Sand river. We won all three of those by plugging the spots on the map were the flags used to be - they are well defensible spots, have vantage of the crossing points, and you only need to hold for ten minutes (we did end up killing all of them usually though)
Methinks it would be a lot harder to defend by sitting at the flag, which for some reason some people are insisting on - last match there was a guy raging at ppl to stop going out, we-need-to-defend-base etc. I dont see the merit in sitting ourselves in a bowl with hardly any room to maneouver (or god forbid, cover), giving free roam to the enemy we cant see coming on the sides behind the crests.
In the end I (Su-100) killed 4-5 ppl, mostly meds trying to cross by me at the south ex-cap, while the others held the heavies at the northern one. The guys sat at the flag did pretty much nothing. Or could be that the attackers were simply bads - I got a steel wall, got sniped at for a while by a full health Leo of all things while duelling a PzIV, why he did not rush my distracted, lone ass I will never know)
We might have been fucked though if they all decided to just pile in via E3.
Siegried line encounter was fun for my TD as well, I played it from the south, camped by the lakeside and kept shooting their people who went to cap - you have a good line of sight on it from there (well, they could have been smarter and hid, I guess, but they did not)
Himmelsdorf encounter - many people are bent on taking the hill (prolly enticed by being halfway up), I dont even know if the cap can be shot at from there. I would be surprised if so, also its fukken far, and probably easy to hide (on cap from hill). Ideas?
Campinovka defend was easy, we luckily established a fairly balanced perimeter, and just kept shooting them from high ground as they tried to climb up. Spotters hid lower on down helped immensely. Also its easy to switch flanks from up there depending on where they are coming from, you can see everything basically with a little moving around.
Same on Prokhorovka defend, though there are lot more ways of approach there. the ends are easy enough with them needing to crest, the middle is harder, more places for them to cross, less cresting, plenty cover.
Now, if I had to attack though - that would be a lot trickier, and honestly im not sure it would work in most cases (in 10 minutes at that).
I have been wondering if, when attacking, I should try and join the biggest blob or not - seeing how there is no need to defend, the ususal "ffs someone get on that flank, oh nm i will go and die alone" does not seem to apply.
On the other hand, maybe its better to divide the attention of the defenders. Dunno.
Never had any CTD problems before this update, now I'm plagued with them every 3 or 4 matches.
Always after match end though, don't think it's happened during a match yet.
I can report that the BatChat 155 is incredibly powerful and useful. We had several guys primed to pick one up in time for last night's CW, and with a BC155 and T92 we had the artillery bases covered. The Bat ended up making four complete north-south transits of the map and making a good account of itself in TD mode. Even with credit ammo it's vicious, and makes a phenomenal base reset vehicle. I honestly don't see a reason to use the 261 anymore unless you've tank locking. They hit for damage rolls that aren't wildly dissimilar, and the Bat can move around much more easily than the 261 thanks to mobility (better than some mediums) and the turret.
Does anyone have issue of sound being like... muffled in 7.4? I have a feeling all my shots and explosions sound more quite, more like a crash sound than a canon fire or explosion. Or should I just go simple and reinstall the full client?
JagdTiger, JadgPanther, StuG III, Marder II, IS-8, KV-13, KV-1, KV-1s, T-150, Type59, T-34, M103, E-100, E-50, E-50M, PzKwIV, VK36, T34, M24, T-50-2, T54, M7 Priest, VK28, T25/2, M18, T49, M8A1, Tetrarch, T-127, T82
Yeah I've definitly noticed something weird with sound last night. Not so much the sound effects, but my positional audio sounds all kinds of fucked up, its like backwards. Ill be a lil zoomed out behind my tank & the engine sounds come from my rear channels instead of my front, When in sniper mode sounds only coming from my front channels instead of all of them.
As in 2 channels. Can't justify buying (well, to the wife anyway) anything better. :-/
WoT: snagzie
Not sure whether this was mentioned already, but is anyone else having ridiculous loading times after 0.7.4?
All expressed opinions match those of my employers, hail satan
I'm getting increased load times, not to mention half of the fucking text in game displays in developer command console format, and my sniper mode seems to slide sideways as i rotate the turret. If my turret is on a 45* angle from center, my view is way off to the side, and i can see the shell come the right/left etc.
7.4 breaking everything woot woot

dont have those problems but i noticed small drop in fps on certain clutter heavy maps
Taking longer to load from double-clicking desktop icon to get to login prompt. Not noticed sound, usually play with it off. (inb4 WoT has sound?)
Am I the only one that finds encounter matches terrible?
Agreed
