Turned up to work drunk and on acid. Got set home. Suspended "until further notice".

    Whoops.

Good news: road tax reminder finally arrived.

Bad news: it was accompanied by a speeding notice. 38mph in a 30mph zone. Welp. Any failheapers had experience with speeding tickets from the rozzers? What should I expect?

I'd been in the sun for 10 hours and i thought i was fine until i left the field i was in. Cue serious "I'm fucked, what was i thinking" and "why haven't i come down yet" 10 minute walk to work. Was in work for 5 minutes.

If i can get away with it, it's at this bar, but i think this might be pushing it. New job time!

Unless its a first offense, most offer you the chance to go on a speed awareness course, usually costs £80-90 so more than the ticket, BUT you dont get the points.

38 in a 30 might be over the margin for it though.

I got done for doing 57 in a 50 and went on one, it was a young drivers awareness (as I was 20 at the time), all the kids caught on mobile phones, running red lights or speeding were on it, about 15 of us in total, wasnt a bad evening, the guy taking it was quite interesting and the other people weren't complete morons.

As for fighting the ticket, was it a fixed camera or a mobile van ?
If its a 30 limit im going to say fixed camera. Have a search around online, there are a few forums on the topic.
TBH take the points and be a good boy from now on.

So we have some family friends and they live in the little village near wareham/bovington down in dorset, every year the village has a little fete, BBQs are lit up, homemade jams are jarred up and bunting is nailed between trees, the usual stuff.

EVERY year without fail it rains on the day of the fete, we lived about a 30min drive and it was a hot cloudless day the whole way there, just as we drive up the road to the village we see steam coming down the side of the road, we turn the corner and its raining, RIGHT OVER THE VILLAGE and only the village.
We asked some locals who had lived there for a long time about it and they said its been like that 4 years straight, rain on the one day right over the village.

I have the option for a speed awareness course, Nottinghamshire Police's cutoff for a 30mph zone is 42mph and I was going 38mph. The course is 92 quid but no points, fine is I think 60 quid plus points.

Obviously all depends on the value you put on the points.

You only get one offer per 3 years (I think) on the awareness courses, so if you get caught on the phone thats it no option 3 points and the fine.
However, if you get caught in another country/by another force you can go on their course, so if you came down my way you could go on the thames valley one.

Well I've driving for 6 years and this a first offence, so after having this kick in the star I'm sure I can go another 3 at least. Plus I'm sure that though the fine is cheaper, having 3 points will add more than the 32 quid difference to my insurance premium.

Sitting in the fridge also has the added bonus of protecting you from any nuclear explosions which may occur in your vicinity

You'd have to be an idiot to take the points given the current way insurers just fucking love to make more cash off their cash cows.
