Prom plays Eve through a contrived set of rules that he forces upon himself. His sense of "honour" forbids ecm, pirate implants, links, scouts, anything considered fotm, kiting, gangs bigger than 1, camps that can lock plated cruisers (dubbed "instalocking") etc, etc. This would be fine by itself (to each his own) except he somehow expects everyone else to play by his rules as well. If they don't and he dies because of it, it results in outraged whining on loss mails and to anyone who will listen. This playstyle has also leads him to have completely warped ideas on general fitting theory and pvp.

At one point this was an endearing quality that Genos teased him over. Since his CSM term however he's gained a sense of being THE authority on solo/small gang pvp where his playstyle is the only valid one and all others are inferior. He got trolled over it, was convinced by Mittani to join Goonswarm mid-way through his term, rejoined Genos when people dismissed his ideas and called him a goon on eve-o, then left again after some more trolling to rejoin his original 1 man corp. All the good solo/small gang pvpers in Hydra think he's become a bit of a joke. He's a good frigate pilot and great at editing videos but the majority of the cruiser and bigger stuff he does is pretty mediocre to bad. The fact that he has the lot of you convinced that he knows what he's talking about when there's so much obviously wrong with his ideas on pvp is what's so hilarious.

The problem with ~honour~ like the above, even minus the embellishment, is that it's just crushingly unfulfilling. You can convince yourself that you're the better man because you don't use ECM, blobs or whatever but ~honour~ don't pay the bills, or at least in Eve terms it means you miss kills or die over and over again. Even when you're not outright dying you're just at a huge disadvantage nearly all of the time, and pilot skill can only make up for so much of that. The benefit of even just a scout for example is obvious. Eve game mechanics are stacked so heavily in favour of numbers, or even just dual-boxing, as compared to other MMOs imo.

It's a twee little fantasy to think that by having these ideals that you'll somehow shape the way the majority play, that by perservering that eventually you'll win them round because fundamentally people will err towards maximum goal for minimum risk in every aspect of the game, it's just human nature. That means ECM, instalocking, blobbing, the works. Rallying against that is like pissing in the wind, so you might as well just abuse the fuck out of it until CCP realises everyones doing it, and therefore its a problem. Ironically "can't beat em, join em" is probably the most effective and most fair way of going about getting something you find irritating nerfed. Case in point: Dramiels pre-nerf.
